    Dynamis - Beaucedine boss problems

New poster so be nice :D

Anyway, I run a Dynamis shell on Seraph and we are having some difficulties with the boss in Dynamis - Beaucedine.
Wanted to see if you all could lend some wisdom.

So we have been doing the typical THF run the dragons all the way back to the start while NIN kites the boss around, then once THF has dragons at the start area we engage the boss.

Problem has been that we normally go in with about 24-28 people and are very mage heavy. Unfortunately we have been getting the boss down to about 30% before the dragon make it back and ...well you know what happens then.

I have read about some groups using Chainspell Stun to keep the boss from warping around but we have not done this. We simply follow the SMN pet to where he warped to.

So the question is with a mage heavy LS and the boss being very resistant to spells what would be the best strategy for us to take him down?

    Thank you,

You have low numbers, and you're mage heavy.
    That's basically the problem.

Chainspell Stun won't keep it from warping either. Its typically used to counter it's own Chainspell Death mode when it starts getting low.

Recruit more people, or replace mages with melee.

    Thank you for the responses.

Going back through the cities to get new people northlands access.
Guess we will see how it goes after that.

If you have another THF to spare, have him wait a bit before the bottom for the dragons to come back. If hes lucky, he'll be able to train them back up quite a ways.

also, you can pay very close attention to whether or not magic barrier is up.

When its down your mages will do decent enough damage, when its up its obviously a waste of time to nuke.

    DoT helps too.

As stated melee owns him, the first kill we had was like "wtf let's try" on a farming run with 18 people...had like 3 WAR's and we did have one chainstun. The WAR's were pimped but i think we only had 1 ridill and 1 adaberk at the time, completely wrecked it. Biggest key is to just keep carbies on it and keep on swinging.

I'm sure RNG would do a fuckton to it now as well, until Airy Shield.

Once Angra Mainyu teleports, anyone with hate on the dragons is reset and they will start returning to their spawn.

You're probably already doing it, but it helps if those that can use SW and don't have a decent WS to replace it sleep up 300 to start. The last time we cleared, I think we had 22, but we have a lot of mages. SAMs help if you have some, or people with the ability to switch around jobs. And as stated above watch for Magic Barrier or you'll just be wasting MP or your 2 hour if you're a mage.

We kicked his ass with 20. We have a decent balance of melee and mages, though.

Sounds to me like your not doing completely clean pulls on those dragons, if no-one else has hate from them it takes ages for them to return, should be plenty of time to kill Angra, we've done it with 17-18 lowest I think, but was never a problem.

The only reason we take a CS Stunner is to negate his CS Death spam, but you can also Shadowbind/Run away from that.

Even when he Chainspelled us, he only used death like 2-3 times so it wasn't really a huge issue.

For maximum time, have the THF run all the way back to the entry point when training dragons. Then wait until the THF dies before you start attacking angra. This should give you around 15m of fight time. Unless we have an experienced heavy melee group, I always like to have the THF run for at least 10m, which gives at least 10m of fight time before dragons return. Flee timer is a good measurement; 3rd flee comes ready at 10m.

Just a tip on mob behavior

The dragons are commonly said to "share hate" with the Angra. This isn't really true. What happens is that the dragons reset their hate every time he warps. It is possible (assuming you have time on the counter) to reset if the dragons come back. All you have to do is-- when the dragons are getting close, send another kiter out to meet them. Fight the eye until it teleports, and then STOP fighting the eye. You don't want him to port again. The new kiter that has the dragons can just train them away again, and if you simply kite the eye he'll not do much outside of drain spells and won't regain HP.

You can actually recover from a near full wipe in this fashion.

Yes. Long time ago, when we first started doing dynamis, we did this once. We scouted dragons coming down ramp and had someone re-kite them
