    Ps2 HDD

Is there a test you can run to make sure your hard drive actually still works? Since this morning i got dc'd, ran into multiple errors and cannot log back in. When i am able to log back in, my HP, MP show up as 0, MY equipment and atrributes are not there. It takes a lifetime for stupid shit like "Retrieving Friend List Data..." to go through, sometimes even failing. I know it's just me cause no one else has made a thread about not being able to get in yet. I ran a file check on ffxi and playonline files, both came back clean. Error codes all over the place though. Perhaps the HDD finally ate it?

Well i was like 2 secs from borrowing my friends ps2, putting the HDD in it and checking if my ps2 is busted (somehow) or going out and blowing another 100 bucks on another HDD which i do not fucking have. I don't think that format and reinstall is gonna work since i checked all the files and they were clean. I can play on pc but my pc sucks and it's laggy as fuck. Just seems weird cause no one else is reporting it cept 2 people now.

Not 100% sure on this, but I think once you have installed HDD to a particular PS2, it's linked with that machine unless you reformat it.

Theres some Sony stuff that links a PS2 to a HDD. Friend of mine had to reinstall from scratch after some troubles with his original PS2. It was a unbelievable long install even with a high end cable connection.

same thing happens on 360 too, but valid point nonetheless. I'd still rather play on ps2 for less lag than both 360 and pc but thats just me.

lol? the only graphical lag I get in the entire game, running at regedit'd graphic settings, is in Wajaom. I used to play on PS2 and it lagged balls. And as an added bonus, my game doesn't look like Doom I.

So wait, you don't lag in Besieged, Dragon's Aery, Valley of Sorrows, Behemoth's Deminion. or Dynamis, just Wajoam? Damn, i must be doing SOMETHING wrong. Guess cable isp is for the birds.

Yeah, but those have nothing to do with graphics. PS2 gets lag there too, and in my experience, DCs more often there as well.

In your experience is not my experience and the way the engine was built for pc, you need a competent ammount of shit to run it the way other pc games are run. I'd rather run it on 360 or ps2 knowing what i got is what i'll always get. I don't DC ever in those zones, i only DC when i'm using too much of my interweb downloading shit while playing, and my mom on the opposite side of the house leeching off of my connection too. I tank in those areas a lot more competently than i would on pc for the simple fact my pc is upgraded, but nowhere near what ffxi wants it to run on to be "good"

    It's probably old, too.
