I'm half black but I look white so I grew up living two lives really. But I can see it for what it is when I see my little brother and sister coming home and listening to rap, my brother attempting to dress with baggy pants, my sister dressing like a slut. It's infuriating. I just wish our society wasn't so damn discriminant. I think a large part of the problem is black people feel this need to perpetuate that "they're black and they're proud so they're going to listen to rap and dress differently and promulgate this false bravado". I hate that... seriously. I only wish I could be alive for the day when color is so indistinct that nobody is forced into these predetermined roles which we have today.
Edit: I'm not saying there aren't the exceptional few who choose to be above the demeaning of themselves to a stereotype. But they are just that, exceptional and few.
