    Wii Internet problem:: college campus

    I'm trying to connect to the internet on my Wii on my college campus to get some games for virtual console, but i can't get connected to the internet

    I'm wondering if anyone else on college campus has gotten connected and how?

    My college has like a login thing for safety called SmartEnforcer and since i can't register my Wii I think thats why I can't connect

    anyone have any info on what i could do?
    thanks

    Run your own wireless network, or talk to the net admins there about it.

    You can also buy the Nintendo Wifi USB connector. Hook it up to your computer and your Wii will wirelessly connect to your PC and use its internet service.

    Necro BUMP but I had this happen to me yesterday. Even if you buy a USB connector it won't work because it still has to be able to hook up to the wireless router on your campus, which they won't allow most likely.

    You need to be able to change your IP address in order to use the USB adapter, so unless you're on your own network (which colleges generally don't allow) you won't be able to use the connector.

    Just wanted to save you some money before you waste it like I did. I posted a thread asking about it in the technical forums, but later when no one responded I called my college and they said that it won't work, and it's not allowed. Sorry.

    My college actually assigned static IPs to allow game traffic through the filters if you had a problem connecting(I had a problem connecting with socom). As Aurik said, talk to your admins, they should be able to clear it up.

    Most colleges will say no, depending on how much bandwidth they have. Some of are the opinion that the internet should be used for academic purposes only, so they'll block game ports etc.

    Other colleges don't give a shit. Another option is to make friends with the admins...some of them are probably jr. and sr. level students helping out. That's how I got to do some cool stuff in college. I guess it helped I was a Comp. Sci. major so I knew all these people anyway. Geeks love to do favors for geeks.
