Help Mii

Got my Wii this morning and played around with Wii Sports for a while before deciding to connect it to my wireless connection. The connection test went fine and I chose to update and it's been stuck at 0% for an hour now. I think this is a product of how far away it is from my wireless connection (my ps3 is almost the same and works fine though). How can I get out of the update without bricking my Wii? I'm afraid to just turn it off.

a) This should probably go into the Tech Support forum.
b) This is a known issue that has been talking about on these forums before. To remedy it, just restart your Wii and do the update again. The connection has dropped out and it doesn't try to refresh itself. If you looked on the Nintendo Support site, they said if you're doing the update for more than 20 minutes, restart anyways.

Yes, you're not going to break anything. Your connection isn't getting anywhere, and if you really camped Circuit City to watch the text "0%" on a $300 system, then that's up to you. =P

If you're still having troubles after, there may be some router tweaking you have to do (I had to do some, and it fixed it right up). For the record, what kind of router do you have?

It's not a router, the separate cheepo internet connection I got for the consoles is a modem/router in one. It's 2WIRE though.

I, ironically, had a 2WIRE gateway with my old connection, but if you got it for your consoles I'd assume it's within an immediate vicinity of the systems themselves? If that's the case, then distance isn't your issue like you said earlier, and it's something on the software side.

Before we go there though, restart the Wii and try again.
