A friend of mine recently inherited an account of someone who chose a really retarded name and he wants to get it changed. I want to find out the exact process for renaming a character. My basic understanding is:

1) Delete character.
2) Someone on a different account makes a character with the same name.
3) (fuzzy part) Bitch at Square through some means in PlayOnline about the character being deleted and wanting it back.
4) Character is restored with the option to change name. Do so and you're set.

What I want to know is exactly what step 3 involves. Sorry if this has been answered already, my search didn't really pick up anything.

you call POL Info center to restore your character. you'll need your creditcard info, the registration code, then they're going to ask for every job level, rank. you're going to have to be fairly accurate with the job levels. your friend probably doesn't have the registration code, but i think you can find it somewhere when you're logged onto pol (ask a GM or info-center person).

It's just some linkshell member that quit and gave his account to the first person to ask for it.

Ive read numerous times that this policy was changed, but havent tried since I dont have reg. codes. So the above info might be wrong.

I have a friend who has tried to restore his character for a 2nd time. They wouldn't let him. This was like 8ish months ago though.

You can make the new character on your own account, even if SE knows you remade a character with this name in order to rename the char you deleted, they'll say nothing, and it's perfectly legal in their ToS, I'd go make quick search for it on SE's site, but Im inside Dynamis...
