It's released this week on PS3. How is the game? I've known the game for quite a long time, but I've never tried it on Xbox. I know there is a new expansion coming out for PC and 360, but how is this RPG?

Games for Windows had it as their Game of the Year. Obviously, it sucks.![]()
It is in my top 5 list for most fun games I have ever played. This game is worth twice the price tag it carries.
I'm glad to hear this...I bought this for my brother yesterday. I saw a review and it looked amazing and fun. The only thing that worried me what the the slow down/load time when up in the outer world exploring.Originally Posted by Swampthing
Yeah, you will be able to see in the first 15 minutes playing it how different it is from most other games. It can be really graphics intense if you don't lower the settings though, everything looks so beautiful, so I don't know what system you bought it for, but if you bought it for PC, definitely turn the graphics settings way down if you are not running the game on a god box lol. The load times didn't seem bad to me either.
Is it the freedom where the game is great? What type of quests/missions are there? I've read reviews and know what type of awards. I just would like to know the game play, leveling (if there is any) or learning spells/abilities.
Thanks for the info so far though Swampthing. I need a new PS3 game for now and I want to see how the console does with this game.
Oh sorry, I got it for my brother's 360.Originally Posted by Swampthing
What was interesting to me was that I normally prefer to play games in third person. But with Oblivion, it was a lot of fun playing it in first person. I liked how a demon would throw a fireball at me and I would hit the block button and I would raise my shield and the shield would take the fireball hit, it just looked very cool.
Blocking is also a big part of combat. If you don't block when the enemy tries to hit you you better hope you have plenty of health potions lol. What is also pretty neat, and I don't know how this would work on the xbox, but, on the PC I could hold down a number key and then click on a weapon and it would macro the weapon. So I could "macro" 1 as a one handed weapon, and 2 as my bow and then fast switch between them. Casting magic is also very easy.
The most impressive thing to me was how real the combat is though. I actually feel (in first person) like I am there fighting this enemy. Love the game.
My brother better like this or I'll be pissed.
lmao. How old is he? Finding NPC's in the beginning can be hard to figure out, just so you know, you may need to help him with that.
He's 30. He told me he had a 360 so I asked him which games he had. He goes: Table Tennis, Gears of War, and some other game I forget. So I say, "3 games? That's it?"Originally Posted by Swampthing

So I heard Elder Scrolls was awesome and I knew back in the day he used to play D&D on the computer so I bought it for him for belated Christmas present (lol yeah I know, I'm a lazy bad brother).
rofl XD ok gotcha, yeah, if he doesn't like this game, provided he digs the genre, I would be 110% surprised, and would go into cardiac arrest from the shock lol. Let me know what he thinks of it![]()
That game rocks. Highly recommend it. =D>
Here's another thread from the forums about this game, from about a year ago.

It was a decent game, Very good and fun but nothing amazing.
Then this game out
http://jorgeoscuro.googlepages.com/
And then the game was absolutly amazing in every way.
Does it only bump up the difficulty level? Could've just put the difficulty bar all the way up...
My friend says this game is just amazing. He's been playing it for a long time now on PC. I just wish my damn computer could run it. DAMN YOU PCI CARD SLOT!!!! D:
Oblivion is an horrible game! Ok, maybe not that much, but most people I know got bored with it after 10-15hours. World is big, graphic are pretty, but open ended rpg get old really fast.
Oblivion on the 360 and presumably PS3 will be, in my mind, fun but ultimatly unrewarding and repetative. On the PC however, with some few choice mods, it's one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had.
Why? Because only on the PC can you use mods to remove or tweak the auto-leveling feature of the game. On console, there's no way to remove that feature; a feature that makes the stock game a solid 7/10 whereas my copy with Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (OOO) is an easy 10/10.
It's still an awesome game right out of the box, but if you really want a solid RPG experience then play it on the PC.
great game, hands down a true game of the year. also the expansion is coming out fairly soon so be ready all you ESIV lovers!
