    SE's Great Customer Support

So I've been gone for about 2-3 months since the beginning of January or so, and find out that once I got time to get on my computer again and play FFXI, that my password has been changed on me. So I recall people saying "as long as you have your proof you are the original account holder you can get SE to help you get it back". Apparently now, SE doesn't deal with compromised accounts, so if anybody gets their account somehow stolen by another, you're fucked as SE won't lift a finger to help you. Pics for those who need visual aid:

So it looks like I'm nice and screwed, I figured with all the changes SE was trying to improve customer service. Anybody have any clue what I can do? At first I thought he needed to verify again that I'm the owner, but then he passed me off to local police, which won't do shit especially because I don't know who did it. Any tips besides "lol you're SOL"?[/img]

This is why you don't pass around your account. If you value your account, you shouldn't give the information out to anybody. Serves you right.

I've heard that you can tell them you'll dispute the past charges on your credit card since they are basically denying that you ever owned that account. Usually they'll try to help at that point rather than refund 2 or more year's worth of fees.

Lol @ Charitwo. Why does everybody feel that people give out their accounts? I passed my account out to nobody. I've hardly been in my dorm which is where my computer is, I'm studying for my upcoming PCATs. Anybody who somehow had access to my room (RA maybe idk) could of gone in, logged on and ripped it. I'm not calling the police b/c I have no info on who did it thus nothing can be done without a suspect, like they would really waist their time. Besides, I value my future more than a game while I do suppose I could of been paranoid and locked down my computer fully, I had papers to write and I was constantly going back and forth, but only for maybe 10min at a time. And Fhqwghads I can try that, I really don't have a ton of time to mess around with this retarded run around they want to give me. I doubt I'll get it back, which is aggrivating but not that important, at least I know I'll pass my PCAT. Thanks for the replies though, and I wonder how many more people are gonna go "never give your info out", gotta be retarded to give your info out to anybody and if anything happens, I agree with Charitwo you deserve what is coming and should not be angry at anybody but yourself.

If that's the case, you should not have a saved password if it's "possible for people to break into your room and steal your account"

As for Internet Cafe's, also a bad idea. I know how to trick keyloggers to avoid stolen passwords, but I would rather recommend playing at home (or if you have a laptop, keep an eye on it.)

    Just a suggestion, Call Them.
I have personally witnessed a call from someone in my old LS that got their account stolen and they verified the original information -OVER THE PHONE- and they got their account returned to them.

Then again that was over a year ago and policies may have changed since then for good reason:
PersonA Sells account online for $800 to PersonB.
PersonB plays account for a few weeks.
PersonA calls up SE and gets account back by verifying personal information.
PersonB is fucked because hes a noob and doesn't know what to do.
PersonA Resells account again for another $800.

Let it go chari >.> seriously bro, you're harping too much on the "zomg it's all your fault". I understood you the first time, and you're seriously the *only* person on this thread not adding anything constructive, you'd be doing the same if you said "Your momma. Post count +1".

Thanks Koga, I'm gonna do that as soon as I get outta classes tomorrow, I think I still have the number if not it's on their support page on playonline.com I'm sure. I don't honestly see too much what the difference will be over the phone aside from me being able to argue more with them. Thanks for the suggestions though, it's greatly appreciated, and as said before I'll likely try and dispute the 300-400$ I've spent (got all the statements) if they try to say I'm not the original account holder or some BS. It's likely though that they've gotten so many complaints that SE feels it's not worth the money for more employee's to assist players with compromised accounts. Not that they should care really, they're still getting the 14-15$ I would give them a month really.
