    Claymore (manga/anime)

First episode is up and subbed by Eclipse, anyone watching it? If you've read the manga you'll know to expect great things, although no animation studio can capture the style of Claymore perfectly, madhouse has done a good job. First episode differs from the manga a bit, but it was acceptable given the time allocation.

judging by the intro they'll go past volume 6 (currently what's translated that I can find) so I can't wait for that.

Yeah a little more info would be nice. I am always interested in new anime series. the art looks kind of cool, and a good medievils tyle anime wouldnt be a bad thing.

genre is action, Shonen I guess, but it feels like a Seinen.

closest I can compare it too is Berserk with more women (and substantially less rape). it starts off slow enough, mainly just action and fighting from vols 1-3, near the end of 3 and onwards is where the story starts to pick up and get interesting, past volume 6 is where things get amazing and volume 11+ is unbelievably awesome

volume 2 was basically Claire's fight with a strong Yoma in a holy city (she has to take some pills to conceal her power/form), she nearly awakens and Raki stops her from awakening.

The anime obviously isn't as great as the manga, but I'm hoping it'll be close. if you like the anime read the manga, it's really good.

Decided to give it a watch.. im actually really dissapointed with Madhouse, I didnt really expect to see this kind of sub par quality in one of their anime. I wonder if they handed this project to a newer division or something.

The story seems kind of 'oh this could be cool', but yet it reminds me of a lot of other anime, kind feels like a bad cross of Berserk and Devil Lady. I can already kind of see what the story is going to be about just after the first episode, op/ed, and also by looking at her armor.

Im gonna watch another episode or two just to see how things will go though.

Seems very predictable, and the concept is kind of worn-out. I haven't read the Manga, though, so I'm just basing this off my impression of ep 1. Has some potential, though.

I've been waiting for an anime like Berserk to come out for a while now.

I wouldn't call it subpar, I'd just give them time to adjust to style of the manga, because the style is really hard to do especially if you try to capture the movement. The story as I said is pretty straight forward for a while, but trust me after a while it changes direction and becomes very interesting. If you haven't seen or read the manga you have no idea where the plot is going, so if it seems interesting from the first episode/volume you will probably like it. You compare it to heavily to Berserk I think, when really it's just a way of saying "if you like this you'll like this" kind of thing, also comparing a shounen to a seinen is stupid, also the first 2 volumes are NOTHING compared to the rest.

I reckon you just got a bad misconception. Give it a chance, the manga is definately worth looking into (if you get to volume 4 you'll be hooked) and the anime for me serves as a translation past volume 6.

You can find the manga at manga sketchbook or manga traders up to volume 6 I think. Raw Manga has the raws up to volume 11 (mayba 12 now), I think this is the only manga I've bothered reading the raws of, it is that addicting.
