    FFT - Orlandu

His sword skill, is it based on PHYS ATT or MAG ATT?

I can't remember for the life of me but right now I have him with a Bracer (PHYS +3) and I was wondering if it would be better to go with MAG+2 acc or PHY+1 MAG+1 acc

and also for which Support skill (MAG UP or PHYS UP)

Pretty sure it's straight Physical Attack and Weapon DMG, though I could be wrong, it's been awhile since I've played that game.

I do know that Draw Out is straight up Magic Attk though.

    Draw out is MAG ATT?

I use a SAM full time (idk why she's useless but I like her) and I've had her full on PHYS ATT

Edit: I'm doing the elmdor fight and ive never actually gotten the whole set so im not going past this fight til I do it, but is there any way to lower his Draw Out damage? That's all thats killing me.

I tried lowering his brave and his faith but neither work

Magic Break? lol I said it was based out of Magic Attack no?

Also, your best bet for that fight -- make your people immune to Death Sentence and Confusion if you can (worry more about Death Sentence). Have Ramza constantly "Yell" on your Thief non-stop until it's capped at 50 and keep him hasted. Dispatch of the Assassins immediately, and spread out your people so Elmdor can't hit more than 1-2 of them. I'm not entirely sure what your steal % is based off of, but in this fight, it's terrible... we're talking anywhere from 5-15% tops.

It's a tough, long fight but the armor (especially the Gloves and the Katana) are worth it. Get it all.

    Woo got them all

    question about SAM though

the wizard support ability MAG ATT UP does that apply to draw out technique or only spells? Same question for Sword magic and geomancer ATT UP for Orlandu.

And sorry I totally spaced out on the Magic break thing lol but I ended up not going in with knights, the fight right after I posted I just wiped floor with.

Beowulf, Orlandu, Ramza (Squire 2 swords sub draw out) 2 THF full speed gear sub item and the key for me was the difference in how I geared orlandu. I had him in HP gear before but I switched to all out attack and was able to one-shot both assassins first turn, everything just went smoothly from there as I one-shotted the demons on his next turn as well.

    Thanks again lol

Magic attack up applies to samurai skill. If you are using draw outs then you want to boost up your character's magic attack as much as you can. If you have a good magic boost you can pretty much one shot anything with Kikuichimoji or Muramasa. If you can get Cirijiraiden in the Deep Dungeon it is the most badass looking draw out in the game. Its kind of funny how Samurai in that game suck at their own skill. I always gave the skill to Ramza as a support skill and left him on his normal squire job.

During the Elmdor fight if you haven't learned ultima already then after you kill his 2 assassins leave one of his ultima demons alive and corner it with Ramza and another character while your thiefs are pecking away at Elmdor with steal. Eventually it will cast ultima and Ramza will learn it upon being hit with it. It's not a very powerful/useful spell but if you are already beefed up on magic attack for his samurai skill then its pretty fun to use every now and then.

I enjoy Orlandu a lot, unfortunately using him feels like setting the game on the 'So easy a Caveman can do it' Geiko setting.

qft I never ever use him so that's why I'm so confused about what to do with his setup lol.

Hell even Ramza two swords once you get Excalibur feels like 'too easy'

But then again it's surprising how every now and then you can random encounter against 10 Red Chocobo and find yourself assfucked lol.

One thing unfortunate about FFT is that by the time you get most of the unique characters it is so late in the game that it's difficult, at best, to really perfect playing them.

I was recently playing through the game again so I could mess around with the unique guys, as well as do the Deep Dungeon, which I just never ended up doing back in the day because I was burned out, and then of course FF12 was released when I was just getting to the end of it.

Ah well, I'll pick that saved game back up one of these days =)

If I remember correctly it's Phys, but don't quote me on that. If you want some craziness to play around with there's a guide out there something for the crazy math behind Rafa & Malak's abilities.

I've never ever used Rafa or Malak, in fact I usually dismiss them.

Do they actually get worth using?

    Details prz

I never dismissed any of the uniques, simply because they look interesting and I like keeping the story characters.

I'm not sure how 'useful' either gets, but I know there was some build for Rafa that made her pretty burly, it was up on Gamefaqs, yeah I know the guides there are often ridiculous but they provide a decent framework sometimes if nothing else.

My personal favorite is Worker 8 because he's just amusing & simple.

Dont forget about Beowulf. He's a beast once you learn all his techs. His break usually has a high percentage, and Shock! works wonders.

Beowulf is fun stuff too, I was only mentioning Rafa/Malak since they tend to be just 'bleh', whereas most of the other unique characters are pretty decent.

I love beowulf, his sleep is always very high percentage too.

Very easy if you're just trying to move-find item a stage to stick beowulf on a mob and sleep > dont act > berserk > confuse > aspir > repeat and keep it disabled and out of your hair forever (while getting some very easy XP too )

I can't remember where to unlock Deep Dungeon blah

Oh well, guess I'll finally stop by Gamefaqs lol.

And I'm leveling Cloud as Time Mage right now for Short CT because his charge times are ridiculous, if they can get down to 1-3 turns for the powerful ones he could be very good, but at the moment he's at like 3 turns for his first limit move, not very helpful.

I haven't MAG build him yet but with PHYS build his limits are pretty low #'s so I'm going to have to try MAG pretty soon

    Beowulf is a bad ass.

As for the Draw Outs, yes Magic Attack Up does apply to Samurai, unfortunately, my usual end game set up (just because I like pimp factor over uberzomgdmg) on Ramza is

    Samurai

    Masamune
    Genji Shield
    Genji Helmet
    Genji Armor
    Genji Gauntlet

    Draw Out
    Guts
    Blade Grasp
    Equip Shield
    Teleport

I enjoy Teleport so much... it's soooooo fun to be able to jump like 10 squares and have it work. The failure rate is pretty minimal, at least for me it seems anyway.

Also, I use the duplication trick, but ONLY for the Masamune and Chirijiraden katanas, because it's retarded you can break them.

To be fair, he's like level 1 when you get him, so he wont be strong.

How does the dupe trick work for the GKTs?

I'd love to have a supply of Masamunes and Chirijiradens

I don't remember 100% how to do it, but I now it involves going into a shop and having Orlandu (only him can do it) have Two Sword ability learned and getting "Fitted"... something along those lines. Then you cancel and back out of it, and it duplicates the off-hand weapon I think.
