We can't see his feet initially, so everything is an assumption unless you were there on the filming crew counting. having said that ...
1) i'm assuming he was sitting with both feet already on the ground. not at all unreasonable
2) if i know i've only got 5 steps to take before i die, i'm going to be damned careful not to waste one on just turning. not at all unreasonable.
