    A few Samurai questions

I've been wondering why some of the damage on my samurai has kind of been a little odd lately. I would get damage like this.
    http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/4...0003na0jl7.jpg
Pretty decent I would say for 56. I was wondering how I go from hitting that much to doing this on a ws.
    http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9...1459cd9ob2.png
My average was 150-200. I'm not really sure why this could be happening.

Here is my current gear setup.

Thats for tp. I macro in sun rings for ws depending on which one I'm doing. I took these screenshots when I was 56 so the only difference was jaridah peti instead of SH. So basically, whats the deal with the WS damage? Is it just because I'm exping on colibri? Will I be fine in two levels when I have hauby/amemet+1/pallas(for ws)? And will that gear make my ws jump as high as I've seen in screenshots? Thanks in advance.

Enpi is a 2 hit WS, probably more than likely you just missed one hit.

I know, but it still happens when I use Koki and stack str. It also still has low damage when I leave on my woodsman and I can tell I hit both hits.

    Re: A few Samurai questions

Low level GK WS suck to be honest. Don't be too troubled by low dmg Enpi/Jinpu, instead make up for it by doing as many WS as feasably possible. (granted I went 50-72 on soboro /war so my opinion is obviously skewed)

I would advise stacking Acc/Att for WS, don't bother with STR rings. The STR mod on Enpi/Jinpu isn't very big to begin with so you are better off gearing to land both hits consistently, imho.

    Re: A few Samurai questions

I leveled SAM pre-ToAU but I recall my damage on Enpi/Jinpu being shitty sometimes. The mods on SAM WS pre Yuki are pretty shitty anyways (Ok Koki is 50% but still never saw it doing that much damage from what I remember) so don't expect amazing numbers right away. Colibri don't have any added defense against slashing, and to be honest I really think that it's just a one hit/one miss more than anything.

Koki can be odd doing 130 or something but then pull out something like this

So HOw much do you think Yukikaze should do?

Well it's a 75% STR mod and it's modifiers are 1.50% at 100 TP. I'm not saying you're going to be busting out with sick WS right when you hit 60, but the ability to do more damage will be there.

Pretty much word for word of what I was going to type.

Just hold tight until Yuki, then you can relax and see the damage starting to pick up considerably.

just fyi, yuki is wind based and going to suck on colibri at times. don't fret.

once you get past colibri and get gekko as well, then start worrying about if your WSs are sucking.

Goten is lightning based, Kagero is fire, Jinpu is wind, and Koki is light, but none of the big three (Yuki/Gekko/Kasha) have an elemental basis that I've ever heard of...

Is jinpu supposed to suck on Puks also? I noticed when I switched to marsh murres my ws were doing 500-600+ all the time. Now im on puks and doing like 100-200 -_-.

I believe someone tested Jinpuu and the results were that one of the hits was wind, the other was non-elemental - I don't remember which is which though.

Dinged 60 awhile ago but pt disbanded. Hopefully I won't have to use it for more than 4k more exp or so then on to yukikaze for a good 5 levels.

    Re: A few Samurai questions

Yuki is fun when you get it because, even if it isn't as strong the first time you use it as you may like it to be, you can rest easy knowing you now have your strongest Weaponskill (Gekko and Kasha being equal damage, the only thing that will change is your gear, ratings, and opponents.)

Two hit WS's generally suck for /THF, and even at 60 you may wish to stay WAR (all the way to 75, you'll do stuff as /WAR all the time, don't get me wrong) but once you get the one-hit-wonder WS's you can safely throw on all STR gear and not worry about missing a hit when SA is up. Good times are coming.

    Re: A few Samurai questions

I've actually got a few questions of my own. I've been using Soboro with /WAR since 50, but since I got Yuki I've noticed my damage is pretty low. WSes will average ~250 with peaks around 500 (DAs) and lows around 150. Is that to be expected from Soboro? I mean, I still end up tanking nearly every mob if I'm using Hasso, but I attribute that to the fact that I static with a BRD who gives me whatever I ask for, and we haven't PT'd with a decent tank in ages.

Also, should I ever bother with /THF with Soboro? I've been told Soboro /WAR is superior until Hagun, but I'm worried about the WS damage.

    Current setup is as follows:
    SAM62: TP
    Soboro Sukehiro
    Tiphia Sting
    Walkure Mask
    Peacock Charm
    Triumph Earring x2
    Haubergeon
    Ochimusha Kote
    Woodsman x2
    Amemet +1
    Life Belt
    Shinimusha Haidate
    Federation Kyahan

    WS
    Chivalrous Chain
    Pallas's Bracelets
    Sun Ring x2
    Swordbelt +1

    Re: A few Samurai questions

Soboro won't put up impressive numbers on one WS at a time. If I remember correctly I was doing about 400-500 damage at 75 with Soboro on mobs. I'd think it's safe to say that your WS damage is normal for that level.
