    About my sunburn...

Ok so BG I was out Jetskiing and I got a sunburn and its not to bad about medium to low sunburnage. Anyway I got outta the shower and it itched like crazy I seriously couldn't stand it and I tryed some lotion I usually used and it made it itch even more. It was terrible I mean it was an itch/needle stabbing pain combo and I didn't know what to do with it so I took 2 doses of nyquil and passed out! Next morning it was gone.

So my question is... Without knocking yourself out how the fuck do you get this to stop? Seriously? The sunburn is on my back and I have it on my legs too but that seemed to be unaffected so what should I do? Anyone else have experience with this? I pretty much can't shower without this pain coming back so please help.

Oh man, I'm incredibly fair-skinned, so I'm no stranger to sunburns. The reason that it itches is because the skin that got burned is dry. Drink lots of water and slather on the purest aloe vera product you can find. The only thing I know to do to get immediate relief for itching is to rub an ice cube on the sunburn. It makes the skin go numb so you can't feel the itching sensation anymore, but it only works as long as you're able to keep the area cold enough to be numbed.

    For starters don't use lotion....
Lotion is usually oil based and creates a seal on your skin that doesn't allow it to breath properly and will give it the effect that its really hot because all your skin pores are blocked.
Use either Aloe Vera Gel/Real Aloe Vera/Tea Bath.
The gel is good for immediate relief but I find that you have to constantly put it back on because it's a quick fix.
Real Aloe is my personal preference... you don't get that feeling of instant relief but in the long run it helps because the pain caused by the burn isn't there for a much longer amount of time.
Tea Bath is good for a big burn (or if its a small burn use a single tea bag and just slap it on the burn.) It usually will take the burning sensation away and you smell good too lol. I would follow up with Aloe after or the gel if thats all you have.

My personal preference over the years...
As a side note, if you get burned, try and stay out of the sun for a day to give your skin time to recover, get plenty of sleep (your body has to work OT to repair the damage done) and stay away from lotion if you get burned.
Also as the above poster mentioned, drink lots of water.

Im a hermit crab by nature.

    Sun = foe.

I got severly sunburned by staying over at my cousins house a week, pool 8+ hours, and me being a person of the night = disaster.

Best bet, any lotion with aloe vera, I personally used Noxzema, every 2-3 hours apply generous amount, and for fuck sakes dont go near saltwater of any type, be it the beach or you/some retarded family member thinks its a good idea (its not, trust me, I have been dealt that hand)

    Re: About my sunburn...

I'm about as white as they come, and the one experience I remember with bad sunburn/itching happened about 3 years ago.

I went to the beach and fell asleep there around 2pm, face down, with no shirt on. Woke up about an hour later, my back was roasted. The problem wasn't that bad pain wise, but about 4-5 days later it started itching, really, really bad, I tried every lotion I could get my hands on, from aloe vera to like this hospital strength spray my dad had, nothing could get rid of the itching, it kept me up all night for one night and got better from that night out, was horrible.

    Re: About my sunburn...

Thats also what I did before I knocked myself out... 2 bags of frozen veggies on my back helped numb it til I calmed down (I was tearing up because it hurt so bad) then I was like fuck this took 2 doses of nyquil went to bed and woke up and it was fine! But yeah thanks for the suggestion I will try that next time.

Edit: I have a huge question... It's not a bad thing that its only my back because I would kill people if it was on my legs and nose... But yeah why does it only affect my back after a shower? You would thing shower = water = good for burn... But what the fuck seriously? LOL

Saltwater is actually one of the best things you can do to your body. Aside from the sand and seaweed, the salt in the water along with the natural bacteria will clear out lots of crap from your body. If your sinus' are congested or your nose is stuffy go to the ocean for 30 minutes. You will be all cleared up. If you have a cut (first time I went surfing my board came and the nose took a 2" chunk out of my back) stay in the water... its the best thing for your cut. If you get sunburned easy and don't like sunscreen, get a rashguard.

Drink until you pass out and stay in that habit for a few days until it goes away. Always works for me.

    You dried your skin out...
If you take a shower and get out... you have approx ~2Mins before the water evaporates and leaves your skin drier than before because not only has the water evaporated but the water also watched away your natural oils. Thats why they say you should always put lotion on after your done taking a shower, or in your case put some aloe vera on to hold the moisture in without sealing your skin with a regular lotion.
