    LA/Anaheim Activity Suggestions

I'm going to be going to the Los Angeles and Anaheim area this week and was wondering if anyone has been or lives in the area who can suggest some good ideas for activities. One that is already planned is a trip to the Six Flags there, but what else is nearby which would be fun for a group of people ages 18-22?

The more unique the better, really.

I hope you make it to Six Flags early in the day, on a weekday.

Otherwise be prepared to wade through an endless parade of Mexican gangsters who'd like nothing more than to start a fight and take your wallet.

Seriously. Six Flags blows now, I would advise against going there. You're better off saving that admission cost and going to downtown Disney and going to ESPN Sports Zone or something.

Theres the South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island and the Irvine Spectrum for shopping/eating which is all relatively close to Anaheim. One fun thing to do of course, if go to the beach! I like Newport better than Huntington, but I thinkthat Huntington has better women with less clothes.

Another option is Knotts Berry Farm, but I dunno if you want to go to another theme park since youre already going to Magic Mountain. There is also the Getty Museum in La, which I think is FUCKING AWESOME!

    The Getty is awesome, you just have to pay for parking fee. For clubs, well depends where you wanna go. There's one in Downtown LA, Tatou or whatever the hell you spell it. It's ok, just be prepared for a good rape, fuking prices are ridiculous. But if you wanna see women almost naked, that is the place >_> In Long Beach there's the V2O, same as the other one. For some reason there are a hellaluv of chinese ._.;

OR you can go check out LA Galaxy, see Becks play, motherfuker didn't play last Saturday vs Chivas <_<

I would actually avoid malls in southern california unless you're 15-16 years old yourself, since it is still summer vacation and having a bunch of screaming kids running at your knees can get irritating.

For some proper shopping it's best to hit up Santa Monica or the nicer part of Downtown (the bits that close at 8:30 and are west of..oh...say Broadway. If you're at street level you're in the wrong place. Stay the fuck out of Chinatown/Little Tokyo.

I second the Museum recommendations. And if you can see a ball game, the Anaheim Angels play on a pretty nice field nowadays.

Stretch out your vacation, and go to the SE Fanfest.

As for Six Flags, be sure to keep an eye on your feet and scalp at all times.

    Fowler Museum at UCLA http://www.fowler.ucla.edu/incEngine/
    Museum of Contemporary Art http://www.moca-la.org/
LA County Museum of Art http://www.lacma.org/

The Getty Centre is definitely the most famous art institute in LA (for those people outside LA) and despite LA's tinsel-town and vapid focus, there are some fantastic cultural attractions to be seen.

There are even some great smaller museums to check out like the Roy Rogers Museum, the RMS Queen Mary down at Long Beach, or the Western Museum of Flight in Torrence which has quite a few US fighter jets in its collection.

Oh yeah, and take the subway. It's a bit of an eerie experience in LA. Plus it's a great way to get from downtown to Hollywood, Long Beach, or a number of other places without sitting on a Freeway or sweating it out on a bus.

And if you've got a car, take a day trip up to the Santa Monica Mountains. Even though the PCH is clogged 24/7 during summer if you can get off the major highways and into the mountains it's a very beautiful area.

Some of the really unique stuff to do in LA other than events on the page I linked are from places me and my friends just 'know' about. My friend from thousand oaks always comes up with the best places. 'The Nets' is a place where there are a bunch of low hanging trees that someone connected with tons of rope nets. 'The Rock' is an off limits cliff that gives a really spectacular view of LA, you can get busted by the cops for going there though. This cool drain pipe where you can experience total darkness (couple miles long). Another cliff which if you fell would mean certain death (i don't do this one anymore lol) which we would climb. Those were the days we had no money but still wanted to do something cool/special for random dates. I don't know the directions to these places, they are so in the cut (so to speak).

If you've never been to the area it might be fun to check out Disneyland, even though it's catered to kids it can still be a very fun experience with the right people. If you're into baseball you could check out a Dodgers or Angels game. The Universal City Walk has a lot of cool stuff to do.. Oh, one of the coolest things by far is to go to the Magic Castle. You kinda need to know people there though or you're not going to get a good show or tour or anything.. You won't be allowed into any of the secret rooms or anything. Hmm, what else is there.. Depending on your tastes you may find it fun to go to Little Tokyo or Chinatown. I'd check to see if either place has a parade or something cool going on first though. If you're looking for an arcade or something you can head to the Sherman Oaks Castle, they have a pretty decent arcade (and mini golf if you like that). As someone else said I'd stay out of Magic Mountain unless you're going on a week day (and if you go, get there at opening). That six flags also has a water park called Hurricane Harbor that is pretty tight, I'd actually recommend going there instead of Magic Mountain. If you're into comedy there are a lot of great places in LA like the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Store, etc. Theres also a bunch of karaoke bars and shit around town if you're into that...

If you're looking for good places to eat then just let me know what area you'll be around and I can direct you to the right spots... You can get the best sushi, steak, sandwiches, or whatever you want all within a few miles of each other.

If you go to the Irvine Spectrum, don't eat at Johnny Rockets because the service and the food completely sucks.

I'm very interested in food haha. We're going to get Sushi one of the nights but I forgot the name of the place.

We're staying at the Anabella Hotel So anything near there would be great, but I'm sure we'll be heading into LA alot of the time so don't hesitate to mention stuff that might include a drive. I totally forgot about the Laugh Factory, that'd be a hella good time, I am going to look up stuff on that thanks for mentioning it.

Also, everybody is mentioning not going to Six Flags on a weekday but I think we have it scheduled for Sunday lol. What is so bad about going on the weekend?

They actually don't have that ride at the Southern California park. The superman ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain is completely different. And kinda fun.

I don't think I can oversell the hazards of going to Six Flags in a small group enough though. It is pretty dangerous if you happen to be there as the same time as the local gangsters. If you go, go EARLY (i.e. park opening) and leave before sunset, or you have about a 50% chance of seeing a gang fight break out in the parking lot.

No, I'm not kidding. I wish I were.

Food suggestions, assuming you're willing to spend:

    Pink's Hot Dogs - Hollywood
Green Field Churrascaria - Long Beach
    Musha - Torrance (Japanese food)
    JR's BBQ - Culver City

    I sure hope you're not a vegetarian.

    Re: LA/Anaheim Activity Suggestions

It's funny you should mention being a Vegetarian.

One of the people going on the trip is a vegetarian just because he felt like being more healthy, not some hippy bullshit but for the trip he's not going to keep to his vegetarian ways. Another one of the goers is a Vegetarian and as far as I know won't be eating meat even during the trip, so he'll have a rough time lol.

Also, dang @ Six Flags comments. We are definetely going to get there early if I have anything to do with it, that's the only way to properly do Amusement parks. But as far as leaving before Sunset I dunno, we'll see haha. But I don't think it'll be that bad if we get there early and go counter clockwise to the way the park is setup, so that we get on all the rides in reverse order that most others go. That's how I've always done Amusement parks at least, it's what my mom taught me and it's really never failed me yet.
