FFXI and Vertical sync?

Hey whats up guys.. I just came back from not playing for 2 years and its awesome. Everything is fine except on my PC the game has massive screen tearing. I noticed this when I played before but not this bad, I have upgraded my PC much since then.

So my question, is there any way to enable vertical sync for ffxi? I looked in the nvidia control panel and I cant find the game. I dont mind the jaggies as much as the tearing, any help would be awesome.

1 more thing, will forcing the backround resolution higher have much of an effect? Im all for better graphics.. but I also dont want a micro menu. My monitors res is 1680/1050 just fyi.

And how do you force the res higher? I do not know how to do that either =/.

I know atleast that ffxi config doesnt offer vertical sync =(

Ive never really got v sync working correctly, and I'm not even sure its even possible. As for background resolution, theres a lot of information about it here.

Background resolution is independent of menu size. As for Vsync, that should be somewhere in your Nvidia settings, you probably just need to look harder.

Ah sweet. I couldnt find FFXI in the nvidia options but I forced Vsync on global settings and it worked (w00t) that makes it so much better. Thanks.

And a question about forcing backround res higher. can I push it pass my monitors limits? Like if my monitor is only 1680/1050 can I make the backround res higher than that? I think what I read said you can, just want to make sure before I make any changes.

Yep, you can. I have mine exactly double my monitor res.
