    Fixing a Nintendo DS screen

I'm trying to find out ways to fix my Nintendo DS Lite screen because the calibration is off (it owns me in Picross, EBA, and Ouendan), but I don't really know tried-and-true methods. I tried cleaning the outer edges of my screen with a toothbrush, but calibration is the same as it was before. I'd like to avoid replacing the DS, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with a screen that's going in the shitter.

Is there a safe way to do this without taking my DS apart? All of the methods I've seen involve pushing on the screen so you can clean effectively with a toothbrush, and that's what I've done.

I use a Hori screen protector, if that matters at all. Haven't had any problems with it since I got it half a year ago.

Stupid question, but worth a shot : Have you re-calibrated the touch screen using the system's built-in calibrator in the config menu?

I thought I mentioned that in my post, but I guess not. Yeah, I have recalibrated it using the calibrator in the config menu. I've read "touch a little bit to the right or the left of the box," but I can't get the bottom of my screen to be precise without messing up the top-right.

I calibrate and try using Pictochat's keyboard. When I touch the B right in the middle, it thinks I touched N. When I calibrated it so that B and N worked in the middle, I couldn't click the X at the top right :/

I just need to know where to press so that the Top left, Top Right, and Bottom Left turn blue when I touch them in the middle, and the Bottom Right turns blue when I touch to the right of it. So far, I've only gotten Top left+bottom left centered, but the top right+bottom right are both to the right.

Been trying to get it to work like this for quite some time, and I can't :/ Inc bad drawing!

The purple dots are where I need to touch for the calibration to be successful. So far, nothing works!

Edit: Tried without the screen protector, but nothing changed. I wonder if Wal-Mart accepts returns on opened DSes.

Buy a second one, return the frist one in the second's package with the reciept. Give them some bullshit when they ask why you're returning it, then you're golden.

Wouldn't they only accept the open package for an exchange, and not a refund even with a receipt?

Okay, then exchange it and then take it to a different store and return it for cash.

Re: Fixing a Nintendo DS screen

Some stores will scan in the unique code of the DS you are buying. And that number is on your receipt. If your return and receipt code don't match, something is fishy.

Just depends on where you're returning it to.

Re: Fixing a Nintendo DS screen

My phat DS did this after a while. I traded it into gamestop, shelled out a few more dollars and got a DS Lite. This was a long time ago though, back when DSLite was first released.

The guy didn't even play a game that required the touch screen when he tested it. XD
