Firefox Image Downloading Problem

I've had this problem for about 2 weeks now and I haven't had any success fixing it. I'm hoping someone knows how to fix this or if this has happened to anyone else. Anyway, here we go:

I haven't been able to save any pictures using Firefox as my browser. I'll usually right click the image and go down to "Save Image As..." and then pick a destination and hit "Ok". The window that popped up to choose the destination will close like it normally does but when I check the hard disk for the image, it is not there. I've tried saving various image files (.jpg, .gif, etc.) from various websites to various hard disks but nothing will download. Also reloaded Firefox, restarted the computer to name other things. I've been able to successfully download things using IE but I'd prefer to use Firefox since this is the only problem I've had.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I think there was a recent update with Firefox but I think they'd release a patch for a problem like this if a problem like this were widespread. Regardless, does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this problem? Thanks for your time and your support. I appreciate your work.

It did that to me and has been saving to my default download location (which is my desktop) so I have just been pulling my pics I save from my desktop to the folder.

Ctrl+J and see if the shortcut is valid is the DL window.

Well, Ctrl + J brings up the download window and it's blank. The bottom part where it says All Files Downloaded To: is also blank with no button to the folder I usually end up downloading things to. When I try to save with the Downloads window open, nothing happens in the downloads window. Yeah, it's a strange problem =\

You can try closing Firefox, then going to Start->Run-> firefox.exe -ProfileManager

Delete the profile and then create a new one, and it might fix the problem.
