    Isolation tanks??

I'm thinking about taking my friend to this for her birthday. I read that it’s supposed to be like taking acid.

Anyone have any experience with these?

it depends on the person, who know you friend might go insane from this birthday present. not unlike acid i guess.

SenDep tanks? iirc the military sort of used these as a form of torture back in the 80s. Nowadays, they're made to relax the mind and reduce overall nerve stimulation. I wouldn't know how it compares to Acid(never tried acid) but it is a pleasurable experience.

    just dont fall asleep lol

As I understand it, you're basically trying to convice your brain that it's asleep, so it starts "dreaming" while you're aware of it. Apparently dreams would be an awesome trip if we watched them all.

Wtf @ that if it is true. Would be weird, but I would think after a while your body would just shut down. Would take a LONG TIME for your body to be conditioned to that.

I never verified if this were true but the University of B.C. apparently offered people 1000 bucks to stay in an isolation tank for 36 hours so they could see what happened to your body and mind.

Also you should make your friend watch Altered States

    Re: Isolation tanks??

I had never even heard of these things until I read this. Either way, I figured it'd be ungodly expensive, so didn't think much of it, but got around to looking it up, and its like $40 for an hour or $90 for 3 1-hour sessions around here. It looks badass, I might give it a try, maybe the day before I go on vacation (going on a Caribbean cruise, hellz yeah)... seems if its really that relaxing it'd be the penultimate thing to do before a vacation!

Edit: Hate to sidetrack, but also hate to make a brand new topic for something that may get like no replies. On the topic of cruises, I've never been on one - of course I hear amazing things but haven't had the chance myself. It'll be on Carnival cruise lines, and EVERYONE tells me 'there's sooo much to do' but... what should I focus on? What stuff should I make sure I check out / do? What things should I stray away from? Any helpful hints? How much money to bring? heh.

I do LSD once a month or so and I've been in one of these tanks, they aren't really the same. IMO LSD is better but the tank was still fun in a way. I'd just get her a couple of hits of some good acid, probably cheaper that way and it lasts longer :D

I took the same cruise about 6(?) or so years ago, on a Carnivale ship as well. The ship is HUGE, and whoever was telling you there is alot to do was right. They had computer areas, casinos, bars, comedy performances, gym(I think), all this cosmetic shit and alot has probably changed since I went. There are alot of pools/hot tubs on the deck, basket ball hoops and what not for other sports. At night the comedy performances usually take place and the casino really gets busy, but even going out onto the deck is really cool because of the view.

Best adviced, after docking, don't get haggled by the scumbags who try and take advantage of tourists. I was walking off the ship with my friends and some younger kids were renting out these mo-peds for like 50 bucks each, and they got this piece of shit. One of them didn't even get a helmet, and they asked if it was illegal to ride without them, and the scumbag just said "It's ok, cops won't say anything". Same guy tried selling us bracelets for 10 bucks a pop, it was like rocks on a shoe string, obviously worth it.
