    Crysis Released - 11/14

Fastest single link I've found so far :

    http://na.llnet.cdn.ea.com/u/demos/Crysis_SP_Demo.exe

Initial impressions are really good, and performance is great, especially compared to the clusterfuck MP Beta. I'm curious to see how lower boxes are able to handle this, I've got quite a few old CS buds with mid level rigs and I'm hoping that they can jump in when this is released.

You gotta get the Nvidia beta drivers for 8800s if you don't want Crysis to look like complete garbage.

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

It was actually running fine under Vista with the 163.69s and all of the candy turned on, although I'm sure I'll update to the 169.01 betas as long as they don't b0rk WiC/RT/etc. I won't have time to sit through and play the entire demo level until tomorrow, but I'll be damned if I'm not surprised at how well everything just seems to "fit" so far, including the suit/weapons interface. Getting to the first area of dense jungle + firefight was the first "Damn..." gaming moment I've had in quite awhile. No slow down, and the effects are balanced just right (everything isn't motion blurred all to shit, etc.)

Just installed it but haven't had time to test it out... anyone hear anything about needing to get certain drivers for the ATI side of things?

The game is so god damn good, running on DX9 with everything bumped up to high/AA18Q; don't dip below 30 FPS. Can't wait for the final product. Nano Suit<33333

Wow....so fucking disappointing. I enjoyed the MP demo and have been lusting over the SP product for over a year now...and that just sucked. The oh so raved about "AI" are as dumb as fucking bricks even on the hardest setting and seem to have a random ability to be able to spot you in cloak mode while sometimes not being able to guess where you are when they're walking on your face. They also spoke of a completely destructible environment and truth is, it's pretty much just shacks and trees. I tried to shoot down a number of things thinner than the giant palm trees that I was obliterating and they didn't budge. There are so many more things that were just flat out bad and lackluster that I don't feel like posting about them in my shitfaced state. Ugh, I hope the final product is better (yea right with a release date just over a week away).

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

Runs like shit on my computer, which is odd--anyone experiencing trouble on Vista 32 bit?

    8800 GTX
4 GB RAM (Only recognizes 3 GB, but I have 4x1 GB sticks installed.)
Intel Q6600 Quad Core @2.4 GHz

Would appreciate any suggestions here (I know this isn't the technical support forum, but Crysis is the only game I have that's acting up--the UT3 demo and virtually everything else I've tried to run on here works fine.)

Res/AF/AA settings? There are a lot of people crying foul about how bad their performance is, and they're also the same people trying to run this @1080p with DX10 shaders / FSAA / AF on a single 8800 GTX. The game was designed around a 2 year forward model, they've specifically said that nothing out right now is supposed to run it maxed. Hell, the top vid cards out now are approaching 1 year old with a not so impressive refresh coming on the 29th. I don't think you're really going to see the performance and visual combo that most people are expecting until Wolfdale / Nvidia 9 series early next year.

After the "Oooooh Ahhhh" factor wears off, I'm sure I'll agree with you on this after sitting down with it for more than 10 minutes. Like Farcry, it'll probably end up as a moderately enjoyable, yet visually incredible "tech demo" that someone else hopefully licenses and adds substance. The demo is also just the first level, and it does have enough polish to it that there might be decent content as the SP game progresses. Personally, I just want the finished MP, along with the full Sandbox editor to mess around with.

Oops, yeah, I forgot to include that. When I had it select the optimal settings for my rig, it set all of the texture/world/etc. detail to very high, so I just stuck with that. As for resolution, I started out at 1920x1200 (max for my monitor) and AA 16xQ, and when that played horribly, I took it down to 1024x768 and AA 16x with little improvement--it never broke 15 FPS. Also, I noticed a pretty significant lag between input on the keyboard and mouse and action on the screen--for example, when I tried to fire, there was a momentary gap between when I clicked the mouse and when I actually fired in the game.

    Any advice?

EDIT: I do have the beta 169 drivers (the ones recommended for Crysis.)

All 8800s need the new beta Nvidia drivers if you want to play Crysis better than a slide show.

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

Dual Core / Single GTX rigs are currently getting a "sweet spot" around 720p with everything set to "High" (DX9), post-processing on "Medium" and 4xAF/2xAA, so give that a shot. My gaming rig isn't a realistic expectation for most people, so Im trying not to base any advice on my personal results. The "Optimal Settings" option is putting up completely unrealistic settings for just about everyone, with some major tweaking the game is apparently running well on some rather old machines.

All 8800s need the new beta Nvidia drivers if you want to play Crysis better than a slide show.
They don't all need the 169.01s, and these drivers are actually rather bugged atm in a lot of programs. The performance difference is quite significant though and image quality is better as well, so if Crysis is your only concern at the moment you'll want to use them.

32bit OS's share their maximum physical memory limit with the videocard, it's impossible to get 4GB of system memory to register as available under anything non-x64, i learned that the hard way after purchasing vista x86

It was fun. I've got 4GBs of RAM, 2.4GHz processor, 7800 GT and it ran perfectly fine. I'm sure it could look way better, but I was on 'normal' settings. I love the suit options, full strength and speed is leethax. I'm kind of tempted to buy this game.

    2x 8800GTX stock
    QX6700 OC'd to 3.5ghz
4gigs of RAM running at 1066mhz

Game runs ultra smooth at 1440x900. Can't wait for final product. I haven't had time to check, but people say the demo only runs on 1 core at the momment? Would be nice to see the numbers when 2-4 core threading is enabled.

    Re: Crysis SPDemo

Just quickly tried it out (enough to run around and shoot 3 people), and at 1680x1050 with everything at Medium, it ran smooth as silk. C2D E6600, 2GB RAM, X1950XT 256MB. Once I actually have time to sit down and play through the level, I'm going to try to adjust some settings. The leafs looked pretty fake, the rock textures were nothing, and the sand was like a wallpaper. From what I saw though, it still looked amazing, even at medium settings.
