I notice some people doing this somewhat regularly, and for the life of me I can't figure out a purpose for doing so aside from throwing away gil.
Am I missing something?

campaign battles are sirius buisness.
no.
Will I eat? Sometimes. Will it be sushi? Hell no.
I generally don't eat anything, but I'll use miths if the mood strikes me.
Maybe cookies...if I'm actually not afk why resting :bagel:
Campaign mobs have decently low evasion so you shouldn't need sushi, I eat cheap att food.
NPC meat thats 12g a pop if i'm on melee, santa hat cookies if i'm on mage.
Yep. I have accumulated a whole bunch of cookies over all those months where I'd log on and do nothing or do something like Pankration or chocobos, so I enjoy using them as often as possible.Originally Posted by Araius

I eat cookies (sometimes) or those event foods delivered by the smilebringers <_<.
Higher performance = higher xp. If it's cheap food and you're not broke, no reason to not get more xp for your time.
I can sort of understand this sentiment, but wouldn't the increase be marginal at best?Originally Posted by Alistaire
Wafik made a compelling case in the Campaign battle thread about using fish kabobs for soloing as RDM/BLU to mitigate damage, which I hadn't thought of.
So perhaps for survivability, +def food would be warranted... and of course using cookies to recover MP is a good idea. I don't really count that as food, even though it is. >.>
No, but my Campaign style is "run around with horde of monsters going "Beastman Buffet! Pick your snack and take it back!" ", so if I'd be noshing it'd be defense food, since it'd help for the times I have to suck up a hit or two.
Seeing as I'll typically do Campaign for 1-2 hours (who needs merit parties?!), if I know I'll be at it for awhile, I'll usually pop whatever food is on me at the time.

I honestly think it totally depends on the level of the job taking part.
level 75 maybe cheap attack food, sushi not needed at all.
level 60s i can see them popping a sushi if its a melee trying to do as much dmg to get some good xp.
I pop a cheap def food sometimes, since I've gotta blood tank shit as War/Dnc.
Only 50AN to increase duration, so I always eat subs if I'm on a 75 job. What a value!
I've been getting xp on my PLD since around lvl55 from Campaign battles. 50 AN to double food duration, and using tacos is so worth it. Been able to cap XP for a long time just by grabbing a free mob and letting it beat on my face. It's funny getting more xp than lvl75 people you're partied with on a consistent basis. By the way, since about lvl60 or so PLD, accuracy hasn't been much of an issue on most campaign mobs. Besides NMs, gnoles, and gnats, everything I fought was pretty easy to hit around that point. So I couldn't imagine any lvl75 job needing sushi.
I use mithkabobs usually, if they are left over. Then i end up regretting it when I die like 10 minutes later.
Tip 1: If you're dying, you're standing in the wrong place, or biting off more than you can chew.
Tip 2: If you're lvl 75 and having accuracy issues on anything but Ninjas, Thieves, and upper Tier NM's, you really need to look at your gear, or merit whatever you're swinging around a bit more. I can hit the Yag ninjas pretty good when they use that blind ninjutsu shit on me and my Healing Waltz timer is down for 4 or 5 seconds still.
Tip 3: Food helps your rewards, it will help you stay alive better (I notice the defensive foods, gotta get a couple stacks of the cheaper stuff, it's nice when you blood tank) and earn more points.
Do Damage, Cure Damage, Take Damage.
So what's out there for a nice cheap def food?
