Question of CHR vs +5% Charm success rate

The other night I was soloing in Mount Zhayolm using Magmatic Eruca vs Magmatic Eruca or Zazalda Jagil. When attempting to charm even match Magmatic Eruca, I would mischarm a lot. Sometimes I would fail 2~3 times on the same Magmatic Eruca but I believe it was just bad luck. I got a little bit of gil to splurge with at the moment and was wondering which would be a better option for charming.

My current charm setup is:
Main: Light Staff
Sub: Bugard Strap +1
Head: Beast Helm
Body: Gaudy Harness (I don't need the extra +charm from Beast Jacketcoat while soloing exp)
Hands: Beast Gloves
Legs: Beast Trousers
Feet: Beast Gaiters
Neck: Bird Whistle
Waist: Corsette +1
Rings: 2x Loyalty Rings
Earrings: 2x Melody Earrings

DD setup:
Main: Rune Axe/Woodville's Axe/ Maneater(once I hit 73)
Sub: Rune Axe / Tatami shield(/whm)
Head: O-Hat
Body: Hauby
Hands: Battle gloves XD
Legs: Exorcist Hose
Feet: Ogre Ledelsens (used for MP while using rune axes)
Neck: Chivalrous chain
Waist: Life belt
Rings: Sniper/Rajas
Earrings: Melody/Bushinomimi (75 sam)
Back: Amemet mantle


Now to my question, with this little bit of extra gil should, I look into buying a Apollo's Staff that gives me +5% increase of success and extra +1 CHR or buy 2 Allure/Angel's rings and 2 Melody +1 earrings giving me an extra +4 CHR? I guess my real question is will that +5% chance of charm made that much difference? I really don't have much inventory space available to spare. I'm also a pretty cheap bst who doesn't use food while soloing exp or have ACC problems but a friendly 75 bst recommended that I use Tuna Sushi(+5 CHR +15% ACC) to fix my problem.

I'd say definitely go the apollo staff route if it's one or the other, it'll do more than the few extra CHR.

This is the right and ONLY answer. Appolo´s is a BSTs dream and you should never leave your mog without it after you hit 51.

Not bad luck or your gears. Crawler are resistant to charm and those eruca are no different. Also, when I exp there Eruca are super resistant to charm during firesday.

Apollos hands down best item a BST can ever get get one asap and dont look back. And as been said crawlers are hard to charm in general and as everything else in this game it goes in waves of luck.

To elaborate, while you don't need an Apollo's, if you can get it, do so. Sell off those Melody Earrings too.

This is my charm set up:

Head: Beast Helm
Body: Monster Jackcoat/Gaudy Harness
Hands: Trainer's Gloves
Legs: Beast Trousers
Feet: Beast Gaiters
Neck: Bird Whistle
Rings: HQ level 54 rings (I'll upgrade when some shit sells, its not priority)
Waist: Corsette +1
Earrings/Back/Ammo: Nothing

This gives me a nice set up of Charm +12/+18 (for an extra 60%/90% to durartion) and CHR +24/+27 (based on which body piece I use, I usually go for the Monster Jackcoat over Gaudy, unless I know I'll need everything I got). This is quite balanced in my opinion, and definately more than enough for anything without charm resistance. It also fits nicely into two macros (first one is just six equips, the second being 5 equips and Charm itself). Melody Earrings are just unnecessary in my opinion, except maybe if you're playing a Mithra and you are paranoid about racial differences (which is 6 CHR difference at BST75 between Hume and Mithra), but I digress.

I'm not sure about you, but I always try and keep my TP. Even though I have an Apollo's, I only equip it when I A) Mischarm and Tame fails, which is pretty rare from what I've experienced, especially with Beast Helm equipped or B) Attempt to charm something charm resistant.

You can get away with trying to charm DC Slimes/Slugs/Colibri/Opo-Opo without an Apollo's, or even a Light Staff(if you're feeling particularly brave), with decent success if you have a good CHR setup, but having an Apollo's to compliment your CHR set up pretty much eliminates the problem. Charm +15% is just so ridiculously strong, I wouldn't give it up for the world.
