RW/RR Challenge -- My Guilty Pleasure is Back, Baby!

OK, the best show on MTV (barely edging Rob and Big) is back and just as good as ever. Man I love these drunk, young, stupid, horny, back-stabbing, drama creating, lying, cheating, crazy bunch of rejects. The first show was all right but the preview of upcoming episodes got me seriously pumped. Man, we are in for some great moments.


This show is missing Veronica for the perfect storm but this cast is still pretty good.

agreed. Most, if not all reality shows are scripted. I don't think there is a single MTV one that isn't. I'll give a little leeway to a handful out there on other stations though.

Let it be noted that not all Reality shows are bad, some are more so documentaries. But nothing like that is on MTV(well maybe, that one show where they help someone change into something they like... I forget the name). Anyway, would I be too harsh in saying I think anyone who likes either shows have no taste what so ever?

There's a difference between documentary shows and reality shows. I don't consider "COPS" for instance to be a reality show. Reality = things happening in front of the camera wouldn't happen if there wasn't a show about it. Documentary = things happening in front of the camera happen regardless as to whether a camera is there or not. There is a continuum from documentary>reality>gameshow, but for those that can't lay a valid claim to either documentary or gameshow, they are crap. I know, I've worked on many of them.

One reality show on MTV i cant stop watching when it is on is the Fat Camp one. Something about the teenage drama of fat kids and everything that goes on with it is just too entertaining.

I like doing that to the 30 min dating shows like blind date or room raiders.

These shows are also my biggest guilty pleasure; I love having these shows on in the background while playing FFXI. It allows me to completely focus on the game for five minutes, turn my head to watch TV during slow periods, and feel like I've missed nothing at all. At any given moment, you might see a brawl, a catfight, just some pretty impressive screaming matches, or if you're really lucky, chicks making out. It's good trash television. I would never focus on it or have it be my primary stimulus, but it works really well as background noise.

You put a bunch of (mostly) attractive, unstable, overly dramatic twenty somethings in a house with unlimited alcohol and artificially injected competition for cash, you have a winner. You recycle cast members so you have some sense of who they are before the show starts, it has a jump start on the average reality show. These people have a talent for making you feel substantially better about your own lot in life.

Although "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila" was actually worth setting aside time for. I loved that show, although I'm not remotely excited about a second season.

I would love to see all reality TV just dissapear, need to bring back (make new) good sitcoms, hell I wouldnt mind reruns of all the old classics either.

You guys are on a forum about a MMO fantasy game (a game some of us logged in enough hours that we wasted a year or more of our lives) and some of you are gonna look down at me for my guilty pleasure? Um...OK.

I have long given up on MTV being the Music Television that I know from days of yore. It's trash TV, this I know. I have long given up and gotten over it. I guess some people need more time. Lucky for you, they make more than one TV channel. So instead of crying about reality TV why don't you spend more time sipping your tea with one pinky up and create threads about "Ugly Betty" and other shows you love.

I love how you hypocrites harp on reality TV as dumbing down America then rail against some news article that accuses the same of video games. How about everyone take responsibility for their own life instead of blaming TV, video games and fast food for why their life sucks?

Yes, I watch and love "RW/RR Challenge" and I also enjoy "quality" TV. I also enjoy movies like "Shoot 'Em Up" just as much as I like critical favorites like "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" just to name a couple of movies I saw in the last month. And guess what? I make a very good living too. There's a place in this world for reality TV and I appreciate it. Just like I appreciate your love for "Gray's Anatomy."

I think you should give in to the dark side and give this show a try. You can keep on trashing it on this thread while you secretly love it and put the show on "Save until I delete" status on your TiVo. After all, that's what a guilty pleasure is all about right? 8)
