Fucking Gamestop Selling Fucking Open Fucking Games

I know some people here work for gamestop or eb and i wanted to ask, what the fuck! I was under the impression that they had stopped doing this because of how many people had complained to them previously about it.

I decide to go purchase a copy of devil may cry 4 for ps3. Some old lady working there (what happened to the unshaven fat dudes who actually played the games?) gets me a copy from behind the counter and rings it up. I drive back to work and take a look at the game only to discover its a fucking resealed fucking copy of the fucking game. If i want to buy an open copy of a fucking game ill buy a used version of it. I don't want to pay full price for an open game with a bunch of greasy fat fingerprints all over the disc and shit all over the cover.

I understand that you want to display the game without worrying about getting it stolen, but you dont need to open every fuckin copy in the store and you should tell someone if youre selling them a copy that some douche already opened. And I wouldn't come complain here if i thought it was actually a new copy. I'm 99% sure they fucking resealed a sold back copy that they thought they could pass off as a new one, theres shit all over the case.

Am i the only one pissed off by this crap?

Unless things have changed in 3 years.. what happened is correct. You got a display case game, and it was resealed, thats how it's done. Unless there were 20 games left in stock, your sol, if you know they have more sealed copies in stock, go back and ask for a sealed one (say the current copy isnt working). Chances are with new popular games like that, there will be alot of gutted games (take the game out, place in sleve, file away, display the case), and you got one of the last ones.

If you dont like it, just go back and get a different one, or go to a different store.

I was under the impression that 'open boxes' weren't really about saving money as much as games being 'lent' to employees who bring it back and rewrap it for sale at full retail price. Open box == used game, in other words, and charging full price for it is a pure scam.

I worked at Gamestop for a year back in 2003-2004, and worked there as well this past holiday season. It is dixx we sell opened games, but a lot of it is actually not because of stealing.

On the shelves for new games, they generally try to have one copy of the case out. I don`t know about resealed, my store never actually resealed. New and hot games, such as Orange Box (keep in mind, seasonal), would have 4 "gutted" copies on the shelves under hot releases and 1 on the normal selection. (Gutted means the disc has been taken out and is kept behind the counter, this is the term employees use for it.) On top of these 5 cases already out, we`d be required to put MORE out for marketing purposes. In many cases when we did marketing, we wouldn`t have enough copies of the game left to even fullfill what`s called for in the floor plan and end up gutting every single copy we have for display.

Another thing: gamestop employees are allowed to check out games/DVDs for 4 days. This can be used or new. I always felt bad checking out a new game so I tried to stick to used games, or if we had guts already of a new game so I wouldn`t open a new one.

Replay games has one display copy with the disc taken out. If they have it in stock its on the shelf if they don't they take it off! The sealed copys are behind the counter! When someone brings the empty copy to the front they take it walk to the back grab their game ring em up then go and put the empty box back on the shelf! IMO its a better way to do it and it gives the customer that "New game" feeling. FUCK EB AND Gamestop. Have fun losing business to a superior store.

Let's say that you want some new tires for your car, but when we order the new tires, we slap them on another car and drive them over to the store where we take them off and put them on your car at full price, ignoring the thousand miles of wear on them while they were being used to get themselves here from Kentucky.

I normally avoid GS at all costs but I was bored on my lunch break and there are no other worthwhile stores near where I work. This is seriously the last time I go to them.

I'm tempted to take a dump in the box reseal it and return it, but im not sure what the legal ramifications would be.

I for one hate opened games, would never buy an unsealed one for new, etcetc, but alot of people dont care.

If the employee does it right, youll never know the game was ever taken out (the box will still be unsealed though, but it will be resealed anyway). If you hate it so much, take it back, bitch to the manager that his employees suck and you want a refund/sealed game, it's not that hard.

I used to work for Gamestop back in '04-'06, that's just how it is. I complained about it myself and asked why we don't just get a copy of the game box and put it in empty dvd cases to keep everything sealed. Apparently the company is too cheap for that no matter how much money they make, it's just the way it is. I made sure when I gutted the games that they stayed in perfect condition, no one would touch the actual game itself until it had to be sold. It's just retarded, all I'll say is go somewhere else if you don't like it. Gamestop sucks anyway.
