I want FF7 on my PSP

Does anyone know of a good torrent or something where I can get -i guess- the full version of FFVII for PS2 so that I can convert it and put it onto my psp?

I know for a fact a few of you have done this, or have it currently lol. I just dusted off my psp for crisis core and I'm also picking up a new one soon (the red god of war one) and I have NEVER gotten any homebrews or any non-psp game to ever work on it. I got it around when madden came out for it and a mega man and none of the ways to get things onto it worked.

I saw a few ways to do it online so I'm kinda in the right direction, but I'd really appreciate a PM from someone on this forum that has done it or gotten any ps2 game on their psp cause well I trust some BGer's more than random websites. Just looking for a good full FFVII download maybe and then how to get it on my psp without destroying it before I get a new one. Thanks

You can't play PS2 games on your PSP, only PSX.

Go to http://www.dark-alex.org , get the latest firmware, then download alcohol120% and turn the 3 cds of ff7 into ISO's. After that download PSX2PSP and use it to convert the ISOs into eboot (the psp format), and make sure you have the same save ID for all of them (you can just make it up, just make sure it's the same one for all 3 cds or you won't be able to carry your save between the different cds when you have to "swap" them..)

That's pretty much it, DA's website and his firmware readmes explain everything else.

Just IM me if you're getting stuck though.

FFVII wasn't wasn't released for ps2 FYI any iso ripped from the actual psx cd's or downloads of iso's can be converted into a psp format, w/ Popstation or the like.

I know it was on ps1 but one of the converters I saw I thought had ps2 in the name of it, and thought that's what I needed.

Also, finding out that you cant put ps2 games on the psp was pretty nice. I don't know why I typed it the way I did, my error, but ty for correcting it.

So, why can't you get ps2 games on psp? In the future do you think it'd be possible or can the current model just not handle it until they release a psp2.0 type thing?

edit:: none of this really matters if i cant find my fucking psp usb cable............................................. ..............

I wasn't the one who kept saying PS2.

And I guess the PSP can't process the PS2 games, I dunno... It would be a real pain to try and put one on the psp anyways... but yeah, the custom firmwares are based on sony's psp firmwares. If it wasn't for Sony releasing PSX playback on the PSP, you wouldn't be able to play them in the first place. Dark Alex only makes you so you can play ANY PSX game, rather than what Sony releases on their PSN store.

Re: I want FF7 on my PSP

Ok only having one problem. I have FFVII as EBOOT's and such, and I was at darkalex's site - Am I downloading custom firmwares or a popsloader? I've read a bunch of different things and not sure what to download. Not to mention, my PSP is updated to the offical sony 3.71 i think, whichever one crisiscore updated it to... Almost everything I've tried to DL from darkalex says it requires something previous.

Where do I start? Do I have to downgrade, or is there a custom firmware/popsloader that I want to start off with?

Re: I want FF7 on my PSP

You have to have custom firmware installed to run non DRM (i.e. "unofficial") Eboot files. There's a few various ways to get it on there but the short version is to either find a friend with a Pandora battery or hardmod one yourself (that costs the price of a battery though unless you're really good at soldering).

After custom firmware is installed, you need to install popsloader onto your memory stick, which would be explained in the readme file that would come with the download. Popsloader isn't "required" to run PS1 eboots, BUT, compatibility with games varies wildly from each version of firmware (going from 3.71 to 3.90 could make some games totally unplayable), so popsloader is simply there to allow you to switch between the different firmware versions of the built in emulator.

I learned most of what I needed to learn from http://www.psp-hacks.com, but you can prolly get the basic info you need from just googling

Hmm I thought pandora's were only to get those working on Slim PSP's, I'm using a fatty.

Guess I get to play with mine tomorrow during the day. Still however, which Custom Firmware should I start with? Exo pointed me to Dark Alex but most of them say that a previous version is required... which previous version do I start with?

Re: I want FF7 on my PSP

Pandora is a general fix it all for PSPs at this point, since you can use to install custom firmware or also get a bricked PSP working again. Phat's can be downgraded to 1.5 (which runs "unofficial" eboots, so you can install custom firmware) to a point, but I'm not sure where the firmware cutoff is for that, since I own a slim. As for once your psp is "ready" for custom firmware, I think you can just go straight to 3.90 M33, though you need to start with the base version and then upgrade to the revisions after the base version is installed.
