New Documentary on MMORPG

I read about this documentary called "Second Skin" from Newsweek magazine. It's suppose to hit theaters in September. Looks like they don't cover FFXI, but it was interesting to me nonetheless.

From their site:

"Second Skin introduces viewers to the real people who populate online virtual worlds in games like World of Warcraft and Second Life.

Couples who have fallen in love without meeting, disabled players whose lives have been given new purpose, those struggling with addiction, Chinese gold farming sweatshop workers, wealthy entrepreneurs and legendary guild leaders — all living within a world that doesn't quite exist."

Not that 'new,' it's been making the rounds on college campuses since January. It's pretty hard to make a screening but they're still doing small film festivals.

Just like it was supposed to be picked up by HBO. Or like when it was supposed to be picked up by Showtime. Or when it was supposed to have a DVD release. Or when... well, you see where this is going. I'll believe a theater release in September the day that it starts playing.

DiscoveryHD Theater had a two part documentary on the same premise. I wonder if it's actually the same damn thing.

It covered online players, couples who meet, gaming conventions, gil farmers etc.

Edit: Naw, it's different. The one on this channel was called Gamer Generation I believe.

I would watch it... It seems interesting enough to be worth a couple hours.
