    5.1 audio system suggestions?

Anyone that can make any good recommendations for a 5.1 audio system for PC, thanks!
Looking to make an upgrade so I can enjoy 5.1 audio dvds.

    I have the earlier 5.1 set of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6836116153

Pretty cheap, decent enough sound and the new 7.1 version will automatically convert 5.1 or 6.1 up to 7.1

I also use the Logitech 5.1. Works awesome. I will caution you though, depending upon your motherboard style there might be two green jacks in the rear panel. One of them is for the front L and R speakers, and one is for the microphone. On my board both are the same color green, so you might have to look closely at the label instead of just color coding.

On the one I got last night they had brown green and black, brown was rear speakers (?) black was bass and green was from speakers, tried uplugging one and of course it didn't work, so you need sound card that supports 5(7).1 it appears.

Question to the people with 5.1s: do you have wires dragging all the way across your floor for your rear speakers? That's the only reason why I got 2.1s with this computer versus getting 5.1s. On my old set which were 4.1, I had the rear speakers' wires dragging right in the middle of the floor, and people would always trip over them and rip them out of the sub/speaker. D: D:

I bought white speaker wires and mounted the speakers in the corners of my room/ran the wires along the ceiling(my walls are painted builders' white), I eventually plan on running it through my attic and down at the corners so its not visible at all, but I didn't move in long ago and ya seno you need a card that supports 5.1 I'm pretty sure

Before I came to the dorms I had my wires stapled along my walls/ceiling because I had mounted my rear speakers to my ceiling :D

    Re: 5.1 audio system suggestions?

if you have nearby neighbors or live in an apartment expect a lot of complaints with the Z-5500, fortunately I live pretty much out in the middle of nowhere so I can blast it as loud as I want, but I have a pretty sweet setup (<3 the z-5500 control pod thing), I use a 32" Aquos for my monitor/TV and have 6ch direct to my PC, then optical to my HD receiver so I can use the speakers for both HDTV and PC. theres some hidden features for the control pod on the Z-5500s, I'll post it up if I can find the link (super boost mode, even though you'd never need it, diagnostic mode, another color skin, some others.) logitech is very good about their warranty from my experience, mine are OUT of warranty, I knocked my center off my desk and broke the stand off, called them and they sent me a new one within 2 weeks. for the price, for pc speakers Z-5500 are/will be a tough act to follow

sorry for shitty pics, cell phone cam again. This is what it is right now, I dunno if I want to run it thru the wall. The cord is certainly long enough but its alot of work just to get a cord out of the way.

These I ran thru my desk, drilled a hole in the bottom for my moniter's cords, and just ran the speakers via that hole.

How would you connect a surround system to the 360 or ps3 though?

I've had the Logitech X530 5.1 system since last 2004 and they still work GREAT. I think I paid $70 for them back then so probably cheap these days.

I've owned the z-560's for over 5 years, and though I only turn them full occasionally they still blast away. Once they die I'm for sure getting a set of the 5500's.

Sedi I doubt this but if you live in T.O. there's a monster in store deal where you can pick these speakers up for $200 if you don't mind refurbs.
