    Help with iTunes please

I just recently bought an external hard drive ( 1 TB Western Digital, My World) and I transferred all my songs from pc to said drive. I erased all song on iTunes and restored my iPod nano and imported all my songs from the hard drive to iTunes and synchronized the iPod and everything worked fine. The following day I opened iTunes and tried to listen to some music and to my surprise I have to manually find each song before it plays which is very frustrating. Any smart advice? Thanks in advance.

Did you copy your old library.xml file (or whatever that file is called) back AFTER you imported all the music? The library stores exact paths; might cause it to show all the songs as nonexistent.

Easiest fix is to delete your entire library from itunes and reimport from whatever location the files permanently reside at.

How so? Have you version 5.5?
Itunes is utter shit compared to Winamp.
If you don't like Winamp's built-in library management you can download plugins that do it better.

It doesn't have the querying flexibility that iTunes does; I can't make playlists just by specifying criteria and hitting OK, I'd have to manually pick out each criterium and build my own playlist, and then save the m3u.

iTunes' EQ and crossfader actually works, too. Winamp (5.5 included) doesn't. Not properly, anyway.

Pretty sure theres a setting in itunes options to point it to where your library is residing.

In my version (behind on updates) its Edit > Preferences > Advanced Tab then the top box there. I bet you its still pointing to your C: drive.

Let me know how this works for you cause I'm about to do the same thing to my gf's laptop, and I was curious how moving the library would work.
