Stealing Giant Scales?

I solo Uninvited Guests as much as possible, but my biggest issue is getting a scale. I don't have a 50 BLM, NIN, or BST - the jobs that are suggested for soloing the drakes. If I get lucky I can kill one in B on MNK/DNC without my 2 hour, since I like to save 2 hour for the BC.

I read that scales can be stolen off Ignidrakes. Has anyone had any success getting scales solo with a Steal + Hide method?

Never heard of that, only exclusive item being stealable I've ever heard of is the warp scroll off Maat. lolwiki mentions it, ffxi.somepage doesn't. I'd have to say poidh.

There's a good handful of ex items that can be stolen, I think. Beyond just the ones listed, I think there are other quest items.

depending on what time you go, you can probably just wait at the displacement for some jp to come... i almost always notice jp running through while i farm a scale.

I shamelessly camp the Unstable Displacement when weekly Conquest rolls over on Sunday. Someone always runs by with a scale within 15 minutes of my arrival. I grab the Rivernewort while I'm up there. Uninvited Guests, Spice Gals, And Secrets of Ovens Lost is my Sunday afternoon routine -- takes an hour to accomplish all 3.

They can be stolen, off the high lvl drakes only (Ignidrake, not pyrodrakes). Steal rate is extremely low.I always try to steal them on my way to guests (1 chance per run), ive stolen maybe 3 scales over 5 months.

I haven't tried (as I don't have a Lv 50 DNC) but I suspect you could do it on DNC as well. You mention Lv50s but what level is your NIN? I used to solo on 40 NIN in A01 instead for a long time before I realized B01 is a ton easier because you get Ni debuffs and Crimson Blades.. Its certainly harder but doable. If you really can't find a person to duo with and you have a 37 NIN already, this is something to look into. I've also soloed wyverns in A01 on RNG but its more prone to slip ups when you can potentially miss 5 sleep bolts in a row after it wakes up
