summoner in pudding burn PTs

i had a chance recently to try out smn at the pudding camp with 3 blms from my shell, and i thought it went pretty well for a first try.

my basic tactic was to use diabolos, dream shroud and time netherblasts with the BLM, mostly keeping out diabolos so he keeps the mab bonus. night time nether blasts broke into the mid 700s, with daytime blasts doing high 600s. my mana seemed to keep in time with the BLM, although they generally outdamaged me by about 400. i was looking for a second buff to do but really couldn't think of anything aside ecliptic growl for some int, but moonphase was bad. another thought i had was subbing bard, i have it at 37, for ballad.

while i think this was a good basic idea of what to do there, are there any opinions on what else i could be doing, or someone on fairy who could help parse the exp per hour difference i would make?

You could keep phalanx or stoneskin up for them, that'd save a nice chunk of mp over time for nuking with. Phalanx would be obvious as you have Diabolos out.

in a Blm burn (3+ Blm's) adding a job other than Brd or Rdm or Cor is just a leech really, some are kind of usefull, but
never as good as just dropping them, but TBH most Blm's won't mind because the exp loss from adding the leech isn't much. Plus diablos can give them that MAB bonus and raise their epeen, they'll love you for that.

I hate blm xp so much these days that I'd be glad of anything that changed things up a little bit. Hell, give me a DRG and a PUP and a SC and I'll be overjoyed. :D

in all honesty, i dont think smn will be a leech there. with the mab bonus, +int bonus, and other def boosts, coupled with sj brd and damage from diabolos i don't think they won't have a negative impact on exp per hour, if anything it should be equal to another blm, or a cor/brd/etc.

i really want to get a few blm together and parse exp per hour.

as for me doing SSga, i don't think it would be all that much of a mp saver for the group if there's less than 3, then again its my mp apposed to theirs.

i'm guessing the best thing to consider is if the combined MAB bonus and bp from me would compair to a blm in my slot, or if the combined MP saved from my buffs and /brd would let the blms do an extra nuke.

I brought my SMN (subbed BRD) out for the last few levels way back when a friend was meriting his BLM solo. We predominantly did wams but honestly, a SMN does so little damage in comparison, on puddings it really is a leech.

However, sub BRD, buff the BLMs and enjoy being outgunned

A decent rdm can keep you refreshed(which gives you enough mp to get off another spell every pudding), And should still be able to throw out an 800-900 dmg Thunder III every time.

And most camps other than puddings you'll have a bard off pulling, that's no leech.

Not to mention there are some times you let anyone come if only to keep you company, I did wamouras once with a SAM ;p

The diabolos MAB bonus, is good enough reason to bring a SMN along.

I have to agree on the company thing. I'm so glad they introduced Campaign so I don't have to go solo all the time to keep a good buffer on BLM anymore...

I once pulled Wamouras in a BLM burn party on NIN. Just gathered em up, used -dmg and eva gear, and watched instant chain 6's.

Wasn't the same as a TP burn, but it was at least amusing.
