PS2 tweaking.

Beating a dead horse, but is it possible to get access to a FFXI HDD for ps2 and delete the shadow/weather dats so it doesent lag?

You could always go into the menus and turn shadows and weather effects off.

Haven't played since Aug, but since then you couldn't turn off shadows or weather in the menu. You should enjoy it while you have it. A lot of people don't get to experience the weather (crappy PC port).

As for hacking into the HDD, sorry but it's not possible due to lack of interest. You're just going to have to deal with it ^^

I wish SE fixed the background widescreen aspect ratio problem

My understanding is that the PS2 uses a different file system than the normal ones you run into. I remember a ps2fs project for FUSE not going anywhere. If it did, you might be able to use that. But we all know that it went nowhere, without even looking :/

I'm interested in popping in the map .DATs like on the PC personally.

And yes, it sucks hard PC people can turn off weather and we PS2 users can't!

I vaguely remember being able to turn them off on the PS2, but I only bought all the stuff for it as a last resort, and use it as much.

100% sure you can't, and never could for the PS2/PS3 upgrade. Xbox 360, I'm not sure.

This has me curious. I gotta upgrade my PC when I get home before I'll do the PS2 though to check it out.
