    Windows XP Program/Defragment Priority thingie

I was told by a friend once upon a time that you can tell Windows the "Priority" of use a program gets (which supposively when you use windows defragmenter, it puts these programs/files in a more accessed area of the HDD so it gets accessed quicker).

Is this possible, and can it be changed? The main purpose of this is so that I can move programs like FFXI and such. Below is a pic of what I'm talking about if you have no fucking clue lol.

That isn't priority. That is how often the program is used. Priority is set in the task manager by right clicking the process you want to edit.

If you want to mess with FFXI, use the windower plugin. Doing it normally won't work whenever you take focus away from the game.

I'm not talking about priority or affinity of a program (modified within the task manager). I'm talking about the placement of fragments on the harddrive so its accessed faster. (From what I was told) Is that a program that is "rated" higher within "Add/Remove Programs" will be placed at the beggining of the HDD during a defragment instead of a program which is less likely used.

As in whole, my main question is if you can modify this labeling system.

    Programs labeled by Windows:

    Example:

    Definition via Windows:

    Hope that helps

Its possible, just not with the build in defragger. Try something like Diskeeper.
