Anyone else getting a problem with Yahoo.com?

I have yahoo as my homepage but for some reason when I try to go to it now, my anti virus (Avast) pops up saying this:

I'm afraid to actually go on the page now and was wondering if anyone else had the same problem or anything or could let me know how to handle it. Thanks.

Actually it's ok, Avast has reported that it was a false-positive.

As for homepage you could use this:

    http://www.blackle.com

Blackle actually uses more power than regular google if you have a LCD screen.

Does it take a lot of power for an LCD pixel to not light up? Or do they light up anyway, even on true black?

A LCD pixel contains no light. It's basically a filter for the backlight which does all the lighting. However, to hold a black filter, it has to use the max values of RedGreenBlue filters, which takes more power. On my 22" Westinghouse, the difference from solid white to solid black was about 6w (solid white being about 38w of usage).

On a CRT, the opposite is true. It takes more power to produce a solid white than a solid black screen. I don't know what the difference in amount of power usage is there though.

I sent the blackle people an email about LCDs and how they work and they basically told me to fuck off, and that I wasn't helping the cause...

On very high end LCDs, they have multiple backlights, or use LED lighting. By placing an LED behind each LCD pixel they can turn off or adjust the backlight for individual pixels and produce amazingly dark blacks. The Pioneer Elite series gets so dark that on a black screen, in a dark room, you can't see the tv.
