    Need a software to control a PC

    Hello to do some maintenance on customer PC, i need to get a Remote Desktop type program.

    But i need a program that will let me control their PC as background (like see the screen from another account and all) and they need to be able to work at the same time.

    I tried REmote Desktop but he always delog the other account, while VNC works but the customer can't control his mouse at ame time as me.

    Thx

    Don't think that exists, you can browse the folder structure as an administrator but non-server windows operating systems aren't designed to let more than one user be logged in and active at the same time as far as I know.

    www.logmein.com ? It's not exactly professional level stuff, but it would get the job done i'm thinking. Either way it's worth a shot I suppose, since you don't currently have a solution thats working to your specs.

    That's what I thought to mention at first too, given the popularity of it in the last thread like this.
    However, I think Cephius grokked it better. OP seems to want something that allows for two people to be logged in and doing different things on the computer. Not a remote assistance program. For that, it depends some on what you need to do I think. edit: probably not using a domain for customers >_>;

    The other suggestion I would throw out there would also be rdesktop if you're familiar with a Unix environment and i'm assuming you are. Um, aside from that I can't really think of any remote software that allows the user to move the mouse while you do as well. Usually the trade is you control the mouse or the customer does while you watch. I'll ask some of the people I work with and see if anyone has a good idea, all I use at work is logmein for my home PC and VPN to work from home on the other side.

    Seems like we have it setup here at work somehow so that Remote Desktop will do what you are talking about. We have a machine that stays logged in but I can remote into it and log in myself without afftecting that other "user" that's logged in. Maybe theres some option or something you have to enable??

    Is the computer you want to control XP? If so it's a limitation of XP to not allow concurrent remote desktop sessions (outside of a corporate domain environment). It was supposed to be removed/fixed by SP2 but Microsoft's crappy licensing practices kept it from the final SP2 release. If you can find a previous version of SP2 before they removed it you can make it work if you don't mind replacing dlls in safe mode, inserting some new reg keys and editing group policies. If you Google concurrent remote desktop sessions you should find instructions and maybe links to the previous service pack RC's.

    win2k3 server supports 2x admins fully independent remote admins natively (+1 console admin I believe but I am not sure about this) which sounds like what you want to do. It also works fine as a workstation OS.

    xp / vista only do one session afaik

    somethings will still require rebooting the entire server for though most things can get along with nothing more than particular service restarts (which would affect him)/

    Usually works very well behind firewalls and stuff.
