Anyone who's done this before?

I was reading on wiki that it was possibe for MNK/DNC to solo the MRs in the promys for the Shadows of the Departed quest. I've decided I want to try and get this done for myself, tired of being stuck on this quest. Basically I was wondering if anyone had tried it before and if they had any advice or testimonials that they wouldn't mind sharing. Also, examples of gear you used would be helpful too.

Almost any melee /dnc can solo the MRs now. The best advice I can give is to just keep your back to the walls so you don't get pushed out.

i did this on pup/war with the whm automaton easy as carrot cake, cheese cake and key lime pie.

/dnc should be easy enough. just make sure to focus on the strays more than anything or you'll get overwhelmed. Build TP on them and let loose on the MR. I can't stress this enough.

Bring some meds if you're feeling a little scared. Oh yeah, use those sprint shoes from campaign to make the whole trip up there a little less painful.

I've climbed the spires with mnk/dnc using shade gear, boreas cesti, and jack o lanturn and it was easy. The main problem is making sure you don't get raped by the strays as they spawn, which spawn quicker as you go up floors. I tried this with thf/dnc too but just couldn't kill off the strays quickly enough on the top floor, and ended up in me just backing away to recover (stalemate). Just make sure you switch to the stray as soon as it pops or have some way to 1-shot aoe a load. Maybe even use your npc.

I did this with MNK/WAR and a soothing healer NPC. Its incredibly easy. Didn't need anything special, just food and normal level 30 gear.

For anyone else trying this, if you can use a crossbow, do so.

Remember that Stray's won't link, only aggro, so pull them one by one and beat them up.

Wait for the MR to spawn a stray like it does now and then, beat that up with your back to a wall, then switch to the MR.

Put Samba up, switch to Strays (or bloody bolt them) as soon as they pop, and as said, it is quite easy.

Did this duo, had MNK/DNC and me on WHM/SMN, basically I just kept Regen and buffs up, cured him when he got really low and I was sure not to pull hate. Took a while, but we got through them.

It is weird for me, I ran around in the "OMG WE'RE DYING, GOD, WHY ARE THEY EATING OUR SOULS TOO!?!?! FUCK, WE'RE ALL DEAD!" Promy's just after CoP came out.

Going up there with Signet buffs, /Dnc, merits, and the nerfs... I was just roaming around randomly, basically ignoring the few monsters around there.

It's kind of nice up there now, cozy...
