    Hero's Song is a 2D pixel art action RPG being built by Pixelmage Games with a team of seasoned veteran developers.
    Headed by former Sony Online Entertainment/Daybreak Games CEO John Smedley, startup Pixelmage Games looks like it's focusing on delivering a top-down 2D action for a studio debut. Already with $1 million invested, they're going the crowdfunding route for additional capital, a $800,000 initial goal.

    Rothfuss has his hands in the worldbuilding and narrative aspects of the game. Course having a large name like that doing the worldbuilding didn't end things well for Kingdom's of Amalur (R.A. Salvatore) but who knows depending on the project's focus.

    Ehh, I'm not feeling this one. It basically sounds like a "DnD experience" without the depth of mechanics or the personal narrative a DM provides. The presentation looks good but the content seems lacking.

    Their Kickstarter failed, and now they are trying to raise funds on indigogo. But I did hear that they got a private investor so the game is actually coming along. Hero's Song is going into Early Access in Nov. Pre-orders are live today via IndieGogo. It’s a Buy-to-Play game, with no further microtransactions.

    My first impression of this game was very good. When you log in you get the feeling that you're playing games from way back in the day but in a good way. The gods influence on the worlds is a nice feature.

    The only part about it that I do not care for is that there are no official servers so either you have to host your own server or you have to join other people's servers.

    I really hope they add official servers for people like me who don't really want to deal with the drama that sometimes comes along with joining other peoples servers. I think PixelMage spending a few bucks now to do this could benefit them a lot.
