Aura Steal

Sorry that this is a very noob question on Aura Steal, but I'm almost done with Feint and debating this mmerit.

When you upgrade Aura Steal is the increased percentage an amount towards /if/ steal lands or is it an increased percentage towards stealing in general (knowing that you will get the effect).

To clarify, if you have Aura steal at 100%, will it always get an effect, if one can be taken, if you use steal or does the effect of steal landing have to be a precondition for Aura Steal to actually take place?

The main reason I ask is that I seem to constantly steal effects in Dynamis, but obviously stealing currency isn't effective.

I believe that the % for Aura Steel is the success rate of stealing an effect from the mob on a successful steal.

I have had it explained to me that, Aura Steal only works in the case of a failed steal. Meaning, that if there is an item to steal, and you land a successful steal, you will steal the item, but if you have 100% Aura Steal and you do not land the steal, it will just steal the buff.

Steal is worthless without Aura Steal, it's a shame.

Hmmm this definitely makes it better than I had thought. I guess I might be maxing this afterall.

Yeah it's pretty obvious that it checks steal first then if it fails aura steal kicks in. Try stealing ice spikes from bones, low lvl bones you'll get bone chips more often than not, high lvl vice versa.

Echoing what other people said. Always great to steal a petty beastcoin when trying to steal stoneskin from Terrigan gobs.
