It's not really a city. And BP and ConocoPhillips (the huge oil companies) have about 200-500 employees working up there on 2 weeks on/2 weeks off shifts. So technically, a decent number of people live there, but not a huge number at any given time.

True, but to live there permanently, I can't imagine it. There may be a few hundred others there with you at any one time, but they're rotated out every two weeks, so you don't really get to know them very well. No real friends, certainly no other children for the kids. It'd probably drive me nuts.

It honestly doesn't seem that bad if its that active due to oil workers and its a fuckton better then the island in Bering Strait that is the only place in Alaska where you can see Russia with your naked eye, where they are so isolated when reporters went there cause of Sarah Palin mania during the election nobody in town but the Mayor knew who she was...
