It depends for me really. If I really want to make a push to finish off a group, I want to get as many merits as I can.

Most of the time, idc really, as long as I can merit on a job I like to play (COR or RNG), im pretty happy as long as its decent.

Meriting with friends.

Although it should fit in with 'as long as i'm having fun' but when i merit with friends we usually average 2 merits per hour, but it's also very fun being able to talk on vent and laugh about stuff. Instead of 2 hours of staring at a computer screen and hitting the same 4 macros.

Is it considered "for fun" when you usually go out to duo at a merit camp and try to run out full parties just because? Or does the poll need a jerk option?

Most of the time I'm ok with 2 merit/hr, think it's decent seeing the number I need to get still, however sometimes I dont really care what I got if I'm with friends and we having fun.

I hate meriting and I like my parties to be as effective as they can be. If I get a shitty pickup party, I leave because I'd rather do something else than deal with shitty exp/hr. I guess its because I only ever go bard to merits. 99% of all my merits have been obtained through me being brd and it just gets tiring. Maybe if I got a good DD leveled, I'd enjoy a more lax party if i got to go DD instead of BRD

Most people want to get a few merits and not really care about how slow the go about getting them. That's fine for them but not for me, I wanted to cap all merits for all my jobs. and didn't want to take 20 years to do it.

Only merit on COR with friends/ls/decent people, minimum 20k/hr, minimum brd cor, preferably brd brd cor or cor cor brd. Brd better be able to pull. Healer better be able to handle themselves with everyone facetanking.

Won't "merit" on BLM unless it's an ix'aern/despot/ulli or something useful.

I'm fine with the 20-25k/hr range that's typical at most camps with a decent party.
More is better, of course, but I don't see it as anything to get fussy about.

Most of the time I merit with LS people anyway.

I usually merit with LS Members and aim for the 20-25k/hour range, any lower than that i can't help but get bored so i find something else to do, but if i'm close to finishing a group i'll push to get those merits finished

My online time IS money, that's how I view it.
Come to think of it, my perception on everything is very money minded/evolves around money.

If there's nothing in it for me or my LS, it's a waste of my time.

Same can be applied here.
Doing slow XP is in reality killing my opportunity to make more gils or level another job.

I'm not a big merit guy, and when I do find the need to go unlock some necessary stuff, I'll only merit with LS mates and/or friends. To me, as long as I get 2-4 merits and don't kill myself from boredom or frustration it's all gravy.
