Lag when switching windows

I got a new computer recently, and in every aspect it's far superior to the old POS I was using... except when I alt + tab in windowed mode. For some reason, if I leave or enter FFXI, I get a 7-20 second hard freeze. I never had this happen on my old computer, and I haven't been able to find anything that explains it. I tried resetting the virtual RAM, to see if it was just the hard drive being slow, but that made no difference; increased it, no difference, so I put it back to initial setting. It's usually just an inconvenience, but it's getting to be *really* annoying.

Specs:
AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core Processor 2.20 GHz
6.00 GB RAM
64 bit Vista OS
NVidia GeForce 9100 graphics card.

Try wiping and reinstalling your video card drivers.

I had this same issue with a laptop. Solved it by disabling all HID (Human interface devices). Not sure how this would apply to a desktop though since it was definitely the IR device for the HP laptop that was causing the issue.
