FFXI Reasonable Doubt

A friend asked me to post this, so here it is.

FFXI Banned Account = Reasonable Doubt Petition

Online petition, may or may not do any good (this is SE but you never know) basically it is asking SE to look again at the bannings.

I know this topic has been beaten to death around here so you may direct flames at me, but I know some good people who got smacked with the banhammer and didn't deserve it, and what the hell, if it does actually get them to look again, why not.

Anyway if you feel like your online signature may have even the slightest chance of carrying any weight, on behalf of my friend I humbly ask that you take a few minutes and sign.

I've not seen or heard of a single instance of someone getting banned who wasn't guilty to some degree. In fact, I've only heard the opposite, where some people who were guilty only got a letter stating they may have inadvertently done it. Petition is not necessary, in my opinion.

SE wouldn't deface themselves going against something they did justily even if there was, SUPPOSEDLY, collateral damage.

The example given in the petition makes the whole thing sound even more rediculous (for those who don't care to read it, it gives an example of someone who had access to another's account, and that person used the account to do duping). The idea here would be that, because the owner of the account neither did the action himself nor had knowledge of it, that his account shouldn't be banned. However, with this logic, one would be able to log onto a friend's account and commit nefarious acts on the account, and there would be no consequences to come of it, because the player was not the account owner.

Unfortunately, when you give someone access to your account, you accept the possibility that they may steal items off your account, they may change your password, and they may use your account to duplicate items in certain instanced battlefields and end up getting your account banned.

The only thing I could think to ask of SE which would be somewhat reasonable would be to ask that those with no prior offenses on their account be allowed to play again and let this be their warning. However, I understand the reason they can't do this, which would be that it only would give people the impression that, as long as their account is clean, they can do things like this should the opportunity present itself again, and they will not have to fear losing their accounts -- they'll only be temporarily suspended at worse.

EDIT: Also, it was Jesus who said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", not John, hah!

Signed, full knowing it won't make a difference at all, nor do I care about my account anymore, but signed on principle that SE should realize if they're dealing with westerners, to deal with us in our own customers instead of giving us the japanese chop chop.

Yeah, I fully was aware that most of the people here wouldn't care, but I did say I'd post it on behalf of my friend. I do think that some were unfairly caught in the perma bans here, but I'm not sure what good anything will do at this point.

I think some people probably were innocent and didn't know what was going on, and they shouldn't have been banned. I think SE missed some people, as well. If nothing else, I'd like to know how they determined who got what, even if they refuse to unban people. Will that happen? Probably not, but like I said, if this even gets their attention maybe they'll be a bit more forthcoming with us in the future.
