    Good 50"+ LCD

My parents are looking for a new TV, and I thought of the perfect one as I helped my Gpa buy it, it was a 52" Vizio for 1200$, but it's no longer being made for some reason. Vizio is offering a 55", but for 2k$, which is really expensive for Vizio.

So looking for a 50+ around 1~1.5k, and just wanted to ask if anyone knew of a good one off the top of their head before I go searching myself.

    Thanks.

I'd say hit up Best Buy or Circuit City (If the ones in your area aren't closed already) and check their selections. I know, I know, LOLBest Buy... Just talk to someone in the Home Theater department.. They generally know something from staring at them all day and if they're an idiot, smile and nod then talk to someone else. Honestly, you really have to go and look at the HD TVs to determine what you want. Honestly, my only suggestion is finding something at 120 hz.

most good 1080p 50" cost around 2k. Best buy has a great Sharp Aquos 52" for 2099 that is probably one of the sharpest looking tv's for that price.

    This is an outright fabrication!

Don't trust a 16 year old kid at Best Buy. And I definitely wouldn't trust anyone at Circuit City, since the place is going out of business you have no idea what they're gonna sell you, and good luck returning it if something goes wrong.

But yes, poster is correct in that your best bet is to do your research, and use the stores to personally judge what kind of type you like. LCDs and Plasmas are largely customer preference - what looks good to you might look like shit to someone else. Bring your parents down to best buy, see what looks good, then see if you can find it online for cheaper via Newegg/TigerDirect/etc. Best Buy sells a lot of Vizios last I checked, so you should be able to get a pretty good idea of what your parents like there.

you wont find a 50" 120hz panel for under 2k unless its cheap crap. I'd say you will be spending at least 1300ish for a decent 50". (you will def find better prices online as well.) For the price difference you'll be better off going with LCD as well. It may be out of your price range but I'd recommend trying to find a Toshiba set. where I work we've sold going on 1000 of them and haven't had one bad one out of the box yet and I think 1 or 2 ever come back with problems ever. They look good too.

Do you guys have Sam's Clubs out your way, or just Wal-Marts trixi? I've been looking a lot, and if you like Vizios, you can get them even cheaper at sam's than they have them at Wal-Mart (Sam's Club is Wal-Mart's wholesale membership line of stores).

I've been looking for a 42" or so, and I know last I looked at Sam's, it was down to about $800 (had been right at 1k during the holidays). I think they have a 47" model as well, but I didn't really pay attention as it would be too big for the space I'm looking at.

Took the last couple hours to look around, and the best deal I came up with was this puppy.
    Amazon.com: Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-52V4100 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV: Electronics

52" Sony for 1500$ the only 'negitive' is it's only 60Hz, but not big loss.

I think when you start getting over 48 or so you will clearly notice a difference between 60 and 120, especially with any kind of sports or fast moving stuff
