    To Me Bike Enthusiasts!

Alright so I haven't had a bike since about four years ago or so when I basically trashed my Ducati on the turnpike here in Pennsylvania. I didn't take the plunge to buy a new one after it happened and then life kept putting it off even further. My wife currently has a 2005 Triumph Daytona and a former coworker of mine recently had an 06 Suzuki 750 come into his possession with only 250 miles on it. He's looking to unload it and I have no doubt would sell it at a discounted rate to me since we've been friends for about eight years. My question is as follows, since I've been out of the bike scene for so long now, what's a reasonable offer in your eyes for this? I was thinking around 4k. Input would be appreciated on this one.

4k seems really expensive for a bicycle.... who are you, lance armstrong?

It's the 250 miles that's really throwing me off on how much to offer. I've never bought a used bike before, only ever bought new. But with only 250 miles on it, the thing is practically new as it stands. My concern is that he's had a tarp on it out in his apartment courtyard for the last three months. So I would kind of like to see it before I put out any offers at all. I kept my bikes in a storage shed in the winter months to keep the weather from really adversely affecting them.

did he winterize the bike? fuel stabilizer, cover the exhaust to keep moisture out, keep it on stands?

you'll want to see if he did those things, cause if you get moisture into the engine you could have some issues

I'm positive he didn't. Long story short, he runs a home improvement/remodeling business. He did some work for this guy who didn't have the cash to pay him. So he gave him the bike. He has exactly zero experience in the handling or upkeep of a bike. Hence why I want to look at everything myself first. But I wanted to at least have a figure in my head for it before I look it over. Then I'll knock the price down as I come across problems.

Yeah, definitely look at it first. But 4k sounds reasonable for someone looking for a quick turn around on a 750 with 250 miles in this economy. Or you could put that 4k on down payment for an Aprilia Tuono.

Well to be honest, I hadn't planned on getting another bike. Just kind of said oh well and moved on past it. But just due to the fact it's a friend selling one and I know I would get a good price on it, it really has me thinking about it again. And now I'm getting the urge to ride lol.

I've come to a point where I don't think I could buy another bike just to have one. I'd buy one because I wanted that particular one. IE don't buy it if you don't really like the gixxer specifically.

I'm not a massive fan of them, but I do like them. There are bikes I like a lot more. But as a whole, they aren't bad little bikes. I may go take a look at it this week or next and take some pictures and post them if I can. Just in case if I would miss some problem spots, you guys might pick them up.

What don't you like about the gsxr 750? It's like the best in it's class right now lol.

I have a honda f4i 600, 750gsxr, and just sold a zx10. Of the 3 the Gsxr was the most fun to ride, good balance of everything. I had some problems with the zx10 but it was more comfortable to ride. My brother just got a new Busa but it was wrecked by his friend last week, should be getting a new one this month.

Brother also used to have a 900 triumph, that was a sweet bike as well. How much is your friends bike worth on KBB? Hes offering you a discount? What was the bike used for? 250miles is nice but hows the clutch, is everything stock?

Well here's the issue Boyiee. I haven't seen the bike yet. He's left it out all winter in his apartment's courtyard. He's never owned a bike, so he doesn't know the first thing about maintaining it. So it sure as shit wasn't winterized, I was shocked when he said he had a tarp on it. I'm personally more of a fan of the European bikes, but if I were to get one that wasn't named Ducati or Triumph, I would snag a Suzuki. It's just not my number one choice, but if the price is right it's kind of hard to argue against it.
