Phalanx Cap

RDM can reach up to 320 Enhancing Magic Skill, or Phalanx(30).(any skill over 300 has no effect tested with 310 and 320 skill phalanx no new tier sadly same for barspells and enspells.

This was added to otherwiki less than a week ago and I was just wondering if anyone would be able to test this out. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

The sentence you quoted makes no sense anyways...

320 enhancing is 30 Phalanx reduction. 300 enhancing is 28. Following:

(Enhancing magic skill / 10) - 2

Posting that "skill over 300 has no effect" but then posting the cap is still 30 is simply a false statement.

I've seen the "300 skill" comment before, I think it's more along the lines of not being able to get much over 300 Enhancing skill unless you dump merits.

75RDM caps native Enhancing skill at 256.
AF legs + Relic gloves + torque makes that 293.
Piling on all the other gear you can find (earring, cape, Jupon) only brings it to 304.

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

plus the time need to unmerit enfeebling/elemental, get 6 merit points, merit enhancing 3 times (or more, if you don't have the highest possible enhancing skill), then 5 mins to run out to altep and feed a sabotender tp, then getting 9 merits so you can recap enfeeb/elemental. total time would be more like 6~8+ hours. unless of course there's actually someone who merited enhancing

There are some people. I'm pretty sure Merona had capped Enhancing merits.

I think it was worth stating this, as I believe that is what "testing" was probably done by whoever modified the Wiki. They then assumed it spilled over to Phalanx I somehow.

I have tested this on my mule, and yes 300=-28 phala, and 320=-28 phala, the simplest explanation is the formula for tiers adjusts, and thus you need more enhancing per tier after 300skill; it is unlikely it caps.

In a way that almost makes sense. It would let phalanx and phalanx II both cap at -28. Guess we will have to wait to find something to break 325/330 before we can be sure.

Because I don't nuke on RDM, I have no other mage jobs on this character, and I am pretty much capped on merits. I know, all mobs tremble in fear before the might power of tier 3 nukes, but I guess that I am old school and believe in letting the jobs that don't suck at nuking (BLM and SCH) do all of the nuking.

Bar spell @301 and 320 = 100

i found a RDM that had max, I want to try to see if stoneskin gets hit by this as well, bit harder for me to test.

I was not with my sch for the testing, hes on xbox so i can not give SS.
