    Suggestion on the partying system.

    So I've played WoW (all the way through fully gear'd shit) and now that I'm back in FFXI there's only ONE thing I miss from WoW. The LookingForGroup channel. Was so easy to find parties in WoW.

    I think if SE added some sort of 'linkshell' that was completely used for shouting your jobs you want to level on (solve the multiple seek issue) it would be a great addition.

    Anyone else (preferably WoW players) care to comment?

    I was just thinking out loud basically.

    edit: I'm actually going to send that in as a suggestion to SE

    Yeah, we definately need a Barrens chat channel in FFXI. As if NA-time Whitegate shouts weren't enough already as it is.

    As for seeking, to fix the issue. Players should be allowed to seek on multiple jobs at once to broaden the availability for all leveling ranges.

    Seeking on multiple jobs is what would really fix this. Or if you could farm/camp NMs on a high level job while seeking on a lower job. But this is such an obvious idea that I gotta think SE would have already thought of it, but it abandoned it for some reason (lolps2).

    When I used to xp a lot, I toyed with the idea of creating a really big social LS dedicated to XP. I figured I'd aim to recruit people who just really like to XP (you know who you are), and people could put it on while they seek or just to check in and see who is partying. With level sync it makes that much more sense. Plenty of people wouldn't want to join, of course, but I thought it was a bit better than just blind LFG.

    You know that's actually a neat idea. I could see someone doing that for their server if the idea got big enough. What's the limit for players in a linkshell?

    64?

    I think more than 64 pearls can exist, but no more than 64 people on at a time.

    Just need to fix the seek system.
    However this was brought up numerous times over the past 6+ years, and nothings ever been done about it, so it's safe to assume it wont change.

    I just want to thank you for being the first person I have ever talked to who didn't call the idea stupid, lol.

    And honestly, I'm not sure the 64 people on pearl problem would really be an issue. How often are there 64 non-retarded people (assuming you'd only give pearls to non-retards) lfg at any one time?

    Just thought of another thing- a shell like that could help people find company for doing AF quests and farming keys.

    Now, if only I had some ambition!

    This would really cut down on LFG time, especially coupled with Level Synch, if one is willing to perform multiple roles. If, just for example, one has a hard time finding a PT on Drk (imagine that), a willingness to heal as scholar or what have you would at least net you the opportunity to party.

    However, i that there should be a limit as to how many jobs a player an seek on at once, so that players don't seek on anything and everything, without real intent to actually party on them ("I'll party with you on whm if i don't get a party on drk soon, talk to me again in 20 minutes.") Gearing up takes time too, so it really isn't feasable to seek on everything all at once. When you seek, i think it's expected you're all geared up and ready to go. Really, just being able to seek as two jobs at once would change a lot, let along 3 or 4 (to represent various party roles).

    How complicated could this possibly be to implement? It's a matter of designing a menu. A character's name would appear as many times as jobs that he's searching as, but how is that a problem? It seems a simple enough patch with far reaching, beneficial consequences.

    Indeed, unresolved problems like NM botting would suggest a static game. However, Every so often, SE does something that's more than a minor tweak, like Level Synch, Uli fix, Beastmaster patch, etc. All i'm saying is that there's hope.
