Xbox live / DLing from different countries

Is there any way to go about doing this?
For example, theres a couple demos on the Japanese Xbox Live that look interesting, but when I go to DL them it says its not available from my location. When I first got my 360 I remember that I was able to DL plenty of Japanese demos. Just curious as to why I can't now and if there's an easy remedy for it. I was on a month of gold on that Japanese account that's now silver, if that matters.

I know a friend of mine was able to get around this problem by using a Proxy to fool the Live servers IP tracking or whatnot, but that was a while ago so not sure if it still works.

I guess that would work really easily since my 360 shares my PC's internet connection; I'll look around for a proxy thatll change my IP then.
