Registry Edits Revert After Each Boot...

For about a week now, my graphics have reverted back to the old setting I had before I did the registry edits. Now I've been using these edits for a year, then they suddenly just started changing on their own. The changes happen each time I log onto POL.

    Any thoughts?

Do you use windower (the non SE one)? Those values are written into the windower.ini file I believe if you are. If not, I have no idea.

in the windower folder there is a windower.ini (I havent played ffxi in 6 months) or some kind of configuration file that when you click the launcher it will read resolutions and other similar settings off of that file.

They might have changed it since I played, or I just misremembered, but I downloaded windower to check. You'll want to edit the launcher.ini in the base folder like below to match what you want your registry edits were set to:

The launcher.ini file controls the Windower's window size, not the in-game resolution. Which is what the registry edit was supposed to change.

What's changing in your registry is the window size. The two entries that say 1024 are your game resolution. It runs at 256x256, 512x512, or 1024x1024. Window size is the menu overlay over that game resolution. 2880x1800 is what you sshould be setting the INI file to if you want the same effect as the registry setting you keep trying to change, as Windower is rewriting that with what is set in its INI.

You can't take a 2880x1800 window and cram it into a 1280x800 size at least as far as I know. The only thing you can do is like he said, change registry options 3 and 4 to something high (2048, 3072) but keep them equal.

Are you using the normal launcher or the launcher_gui?

Also what OS are you running? I changed the registry on Vista x64 and it's been fine for about a year now.

That fixed it. Not sure why I didn't notice I was changing the wrong fields earlier. And no, 1280x800 is in my Launcher.ini file to give my window size which is about 75% of my 19" monitor's screen size. The Windower Launcher.ini was changing my registry back everytime since 1280x800 was my Window screen size. The 2880x1800 = 2x my 1440x900 monitor's max resolution to double the in-game resolution. Everything's back to normal. Still weird that it changed on its own.

Anyhow, thank you to all that helped.

PS: Was using normal launcher and Windows XP.

GOing above your monitor's max resolution won't make the game look any better, since your monitor just scales it back down. All it does is make your graphics card work harder.

Well the game looks much better @ 2x resolution... So that's what was important to me.
