    PS3 -> Monitor question

    Just got a PS3 and I plan on hooking it up via my computer monitor, here is my monitor.
    Newegg.com - ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Built in Speakers - LCD Monitors

    I want to connect it via VGA. The only thing I can see out there is that HDfury thing, and that is hella expensive. I only really wanna spend 75 bucks MAX, and thats 150 minimal.

    Is that my best option?

    Can I do this?

    Take a HDMI -> DVI adapter, and then do a DVI -> VGA adapter and convert the converter? Will I still be able to get full 1080p resolution?

    Your best option is HDMI -> HDMI or HDMI -> DVI.

    When your monitor has both those inputs...I have no clue why you're trying to use VGA, and willing to pay up to 75$ to do it?!

    DVI is being used for my regular computer needs, so I have a button where say during camping HNM, I can switch to VGA and play PS3. I am not very techy, but I can connect my PS3 to my HDMI port and I am good to go?

    You can since it has HDMI.

    By default though it'll likely play audio through the HDMI cable as well, which would output on the typically shitty built-in speakers. PS3 allows you to run audio off composite or optical cables also though, which would be better options if you want to hook it up to some proper speakers.
    (I personally just went HDMI->Monitor, Composite->Speakers via Genderbender and composite->3.5mm stereo adapter, only gets me 2.1 that way, but 'eh, my 5.1 setup doesn't have an optical-in for the PS3)
