    BitPim and Verizon, GDI.

So, with the Alltel merger finished and Verizon controls everything, they locked my phone. More specifically they locked the lgmysounds.dat file. Is there a way to get BitPim working again now that Verizon locked my phone? I'm using a LG AX585 (LG Rhythm) and the trick to load MP3s as ringtones via deleting that one file (LGmysounds.dat) then loading and cycling the phone's power worked. Come yesterday at like 2am it wasn't working with a new error saying the file was locked.

    Am I completely fucked over?

(Also, I tried the send a text w/ mp3 via email; it's removed. Tried the websites that send them to you and those don't work either. :\ )

You got web browsing capability on your phone?

If so you can use this: Phone Uploader

Upload the file and then use the jumpcode they give you from phone browser.

Not in my plan. :\ Don't want to pay the stupid non-plan charges either.

This may be totally useless but with all the verizon phones I've had so far this is what I do.
Connect the phone with bitpim properly and go to browse the file system. Go to the Brew folder/mod/10889/ringtones and with my phone you can just paste whatever in there and then power cycle the phone and it works fine.

Edit: Idk if thats only for the phones I have that happen to have the same firmware, in order to get around the lock on the firmware and delete the file like you have been doing, list the phone in bitpim as "Other CDMA Phone" or if not set it as a "vx8560 (chocolate 3)" and that may get around the lock. I have a voyager and if I list it as a dare it also gets around it, so same general problem here.

Love you so much. Setting my phone as a Chocolate 3 fixed being able to delete that file. You are seriously my hero.

Edit - BitPim never had my phone as a listed one so I had been using other CDMA phone. Also, that first directory listing you have doesn't exist on my phone. Probably due to the fact it's still an Alltel programmed phone, who knows.
