Buying a new car - You think this is legit?

So, finally found a buyer for my truck. Going to be going to the Credit Union to get my money today. I now need to find a new car this weekend. I found this one, but it just seems too good to be true.

    2002 LINCOLN LS V8***CLEAN***

What do you guys think? The high miles don't bug me as long as the engine isn't making any strange noises, and it's not blowing blue smoke. I just think that this is probably too good of a deal, what are some things I should look out for on this type of vehicle. I've never owned a Lincoln so I don't really know what typically goes wrong on them.

    Did you kbb.org it?

For the amount of miles on it, it seems about right. Once you go over 100k your car value drops like a rock.

    edit:

Looked it up on kbb.org and they go for about 5k if in perfect condition. So yeah that sounds about right. A little on the low side but not a steal or anything. Best thing to do would be to test drive it and see if you like it.

Looks like it was well taken care of.....

since kbb is about 5k.... this doesnt seem to bad.

Economy sucks still, everyone rather purchase new cars with the clunkers program... andprobably just wants this sold.

be sure to get the vin number and run it through the police - or some other site that checks the history of it(I think they charge $25 to have it checked out here). Its good to know if the current owner is the original owner, if it was in any major accidents and whether or not it was stolen. Although the last option is very rare, people to buy stolen cars by being too trusting. It is illegal to buy stolen merchandise whether you know it or not, and if it was found to be stolen you could have it reposesed, given a fine, and be out of the money that you paid for it. Im paranoid about buying used cars, ive just had some friends tell me their horror stories from buying used.

Buying a stolen car in Dearborn Heights isn't rare unfortunately, we moved away from downriver for a reason. Detroit is spreading.

Listen to the motor, and listen to it well. Take a mechanic, take it for a drive, go a distance on the highway.

Sounds legit, take it to your mechanic, and get the CarFax.

    Not rocket science.

Also, talk him down - offer $3100, see what he counters with. Economy sucks, selling a car is hard (trust me). He'll be looking to deal.

I doubt that car is legit, looks like salvage title car to me, but who knows. Good luck.

It's a buyer's market right now, lots of people looking to sell and not so many looking to buy. Of course get the VIN and have the car checked out at a mechanic, but that price doesn't seem low enough to be suspicious in this market.

Going to look at it tomorrow night, just finalized the sale on my truck, what a clusterfuck that was. Never sell a car with a lien on it, especially if you have to use a credit union that doesn't know what they're doing. Pay cash or you can't afford it!

There are a lot of people turning to used cars instead of new. They cannot afford new because their hours were cut or they were laid off recently, or are just not in a good position financially. If anything its a sellers market, the prices on used have risen slightly.

It's not a sellers market when you're trying to get 13,000$ for a 2004 Ford Ranger. But it only took me 3-4 months to get a buyer, and I happy as hell.

My dad is only paying 13k for a brand new Dodge Avenger. Trying to sell a 5 year old car for 13k is a little crazy.

Stay out of wayne. Come over to oakland to buy a car.

edit: Actually, this looks pretty legit. You'd be okay to go check it out I guess. That's a pretty nice car for a reasonable price. Def. get a carfax though.
