    laptop VGA port

I'd post this in a tech random question thread but we don't have one. Anyways...

What's the general consensus on a vga port not working? Laptop turns on but no video. I believe the lcd screen doesn't work cause it's possibly damaged but I'd really like to make sure but the vga out not working isn't helping. I'll probably have to get a new LCD/CCFL/inverter or just get a working one off of a spare parts/repair/as is. I'm leaning towards motherboard or could it possibly be something else?

I recently repaired my laptop, no image would appear, however I was able to boot in safemode, turn on remote control and remote control my laptop.

I got a new graphics card installed.

Stupid question, but are you hitting whatever key combo you'd need to in order to rotate through video out modes? Most won't automatically output video if a monitor is connected, still need to do that.

Usually if that won't work, it's an indication that the graphics and/or motherboard are shot in general.

    Yup.

Most are the function (Fn) key plus F8, or another F series function key. The icon should look like a monitor with a line, or two monitors, or similar.
